Ultimate_Game Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 Who's the best batsman playing currently? In the years past the discussion was moot as Tendulkar was the best batsman since early 90s. He had competitors for the title from time to time - Lara, Mark Waugh, Ponting, Dravid and even Aravinda for a couple of years in late 90s but generally the one constant was that the competitors for the best batsman changed, SRT remained and most acknowledged the same. But now SRT being in the twilight of his illustrious career, Ponting on his way out the debate is up and this time there's no clear winner for the 1st time in 20 years. There are quite a few contenders which are... 1. Cook for his knack of scoring big runs 2. Trott for his consistency and not giving his wkt cheaply 3. Amla for scoring runs heavily and managing to do so in style 4. AB De Villiers as the cornerstone of SA batting Wanted to add Sangakkara to the list but he hasn't been that consistent away and other than that 192 against Aussies doesn't have much to show away from home. Who do you think is the best batsman currently? For me it has to be AB De Villiers. He has scored in sub-continent and bouncy pitches, and is one of the most consistent batsmen going around. To me he looks like the best batsman currently and should be one of the biggest stars for years to come.
