jairamesh Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Duncan Fletcher was hired on the premises he follows the Kirsten "hands off" approach and let the seniors run the show. It worked at most times with the culmination of the World Cup victory. The Kirsten approach utilized through this past season (2011/12) has been a total disaster. It was effective when in a period the seniors were in good form and performing hence proving to be the ideal mentors and coaches for incoming players (youngsters or season pros). Now with all these seniors failing, they are more preoccupied to maintain their status quo which is blinkering their own perspective on when to retire or coaching the upcoming players. This has resulted the Test team and to an extent the ODI team staggering along in a drunken stupor unsure of the team's targets and objectives (and hence in the process neglecting a nation's hopes and expectations). The new season begins with the onset of the Asian Cup and time for Fletcher to create a ruckus by publically laying out what he thought in his 1st year of tenure and what changes are required. I am personally looking for radical changes on the lines; of a very very strict fitness requirement, a stratospheric rise in fielding levels (the best in the world), obviously sorting the fast bowling issue, addressing batting technical deficiencies etc. But more importantly a ruthless approach to the phasing out of seniors before the Asian Cup in ODIs and that 1st vs NZ in Test. If Fletcher hasn't got the cojones and happy instead to lick Dhoni's and BCCI's balls then expect a elongated humiliation to a decline. Any other suggestion you hope Fletcher will raise/implement to get back no.1 in Tests, claim the no.1 spot in ODIs, win T20 WC, white-washing touring teams at home, win overseas (both ODIs and Tests)? Or this is too much to expect from the old fart!
J P K Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Time for Fletcher to flex his muscles sorry cannot stop laughing :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: do u really think this old man can flex his muscle

IKnowU Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Kirsten had the right mix of everything. No pressure on him when he came to the side. Worked with everyone, put in the hard yards and got the rewards.
Sid Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Iss mote ne poori bani banayi team barbaad kardi,he should be the first one to be axed.
CG Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Iss mote ne poori bani banayi team barbaad kardi' date=he should be the first one to be axed. Motu ne kya kiya?In india if you try to be strict with players he will go the chappel way and with board backing dhoni ,he is nothing but there to give throw downs which he is very bad at.
adi B Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 gary kirsten was very smart, under him we won series in sc nd went to #1, he wanted to go after the wc, coz he knew india had a great chance of winning it, but he knew what was coming up after the cup, so with all his wisdom, he knew that was the best time to cut the chord, lol he must be smiling now that what he foresaw hasd come true
ganeshran Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Its not Fletcher's fault the entire top order have become walking wickets, but he may become the most easily dispensable to placate the janta.

No coach would have let this team slip up this badly.

And I honestly believed Fletcher thought he had something to work with to hit back at his critics in England and avenge that 5-0 Ashes white wash he suffered in Australia. But Fletcher and Indian team came up against a very very determined England team which was also a far more bowling and technically superior side, and then latter similarly against a less technical superior Australian team nevertheless a very very determined Australian team. What was more galling is through the entire procession of humiliation, no changes were made through two series in personnel (except for injury enforced changes). Which leads to the next concern, how worried is BCCI and are the players still on a 1-year long Post-World Cup honeymoon period!?!?
Ultimate_Game Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Even a B'desh or Zim coach wouldn't have lost the amount we lost in a year under Fletcher.
The Outsider Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Iss mote ne poori bani banayi team barbaad kardi' date=he should be the first one to be axed. Yeah, mote ne gotiyaan pakad rakhi hai humare batsmen ki preventing them from putting bat on ball. Not that I am any fan of Fletcher but to blame the coach when the team is rotten on so many other major counts is a case of shifting the blame.
prashsenga Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 the normal attitude would be to fire the coach.. but honestly the team is shyte now.... the cpoach and captain can do only so much.. seniors and juniors failing in tandem.. it stinks.. laxman -- dropped with no point of return sachin - he can kiss ODis goodbye after this series. couple of test series at home dravid - one more test series at home. sehwag - dropped from both test and ODi team jadeja and raina - dropped and packed off to county ishant sharma - dropped and packed off to county pappu - banished from International cricket vinay koomarrrrr - banished ffrom tests...
