Kohli slams Australia for not playing in the spirit of the game Press Trust Of India Hobart, February 28, 2012 Star Indian batsman Virat Kohli on Tuesday lashed out at the Australian players for not playing in the spirit of the game in his side's tri-series match against the hosts in Sydney on Sunday. The match between India and Australia at the SCG, which the latter won by 87 runs, witnessed two controversial decisions by the umpires who turned down 'obstructing the field' appeal by the visitors against David Hussey and Brett Lee. Sachin Tendulkar was apparently blocked by Lee while running for a single, leading to the Indian batsman's run out. David Hussey was not given out when it seemed that he had stopped the ball, directed to the stumps, by his right hand. Kohli justified the appeals by his side and even claimed that David Hussey took a one-bounce catch. "According to us, it was evident to naked eye. It was not on. It wasn't in the spirit of the game. Why shouldn't we appeal for something that's wrong. If it is in rule book, why shouldn't we appeal," said Kohli, who smashed an unbeaten 133 to guide India to an incredible seven-wicket win over Sri Lanka on Tuesday. "There's no point. You can crib about it as much as you want, why did they claim one bounce catch. David Hussey himself claimed a catch (about Kohli himself in Sydney) which clearly I can see it wasn't the way. They should see themselves before pointing fingers at others. i hope it pisses them in a competitive way, so that they beat lanka nd be desperate to play india in the finals to thrash them nd give kohli a worthful answer....hope the 1st part happen, 2nd part would be in our hands

Unless Shastri pisses off BCCI like Gavaskar did asking for money....we will continue to hear his crap. Atleast BCCI dont have Gavaskar & Harsha....both were ga-ga India every damm time when they were employed by BCCI even though they should have remained netural as far as commentary goes.

They should have given it out irrespective who was playing. The rule book clearly states it was out obstructing the field. You can't do much when umpires decide to over-rule the cricketing laws and rulebook :dontknow:

Manju was on air for over where Kohli slaughtered Malinga. It was such inspid description of mayhem happening of ground that anybody would feel it is regular 4-5 runs over. Compare that with commentary that we had on other channel. Manju shows excitement only when he has to bash Sachin.

I agree with Kohli on this one. Warner was being a bit of a smart ass in the interview, as was Watson really, so what Kohli has said has substance. It's not really "slamming", it's just stating the truth. The other press conference he did I found embarrasing for him, but this one he is spot on really.

A country that has no problems bowling an underarm "sarpati" bowling to avoid a loss, really doesn't deserve to be shown any "cricketing spirit". Eff the Australians!.. Born Criminals, Living Cheaters!
