This is done after every tour. Remember Ranbir Singh Mahendra's tour report about Sourav Ganguly?

Agreed all the talk of a rift helps sell their papers or get more viewers on the news. I don't think the team is split up.

I don't think the media twisted their words.. I just meant it's probably not as serious as the media makes it. Maybe they were just offering their view, doesn't mean there's a rift. But media know if they exaggerate the issue they will make plenty of money.

Get MSD, Viru and Gauti across the table and ask them to thrash out all the issues. Ask Viru and GG to share what their concerns are, ask MSD what his expectations from these two senior pros are and let them talk their issues thoroughly. If Viru and GG feel the team isn't being led properly, let that be known to MSD directly and if MSD is not taking advice from his seniors, let it be known to him clearly too. Enough of this BS. The problem as I see is lack of communication and ego tussles. Can easily be worked on through proper dialogue. The longer we continue to believe all is well, worse it will get and continue to affect the team morale. As we enter a new era of cricket with lots of youngsters coming in, we cannot afford to have a dressing room divided in factions. These youngsters deserve to play in a positive dressing room which helps them improve as cricketers. Finally if the three of these cannot resolve their issues, drop them from the team. No one is bigger than the game irrespective of how big a superstar he is.

If in- fighting was an issue since a long time, I am surprised it didn't show up earlier. Why wait now?

Players in an ordinary team don't clash much. in the 90s and 2000s we got some players of outstanding dignity and integrity in the team. Sachin, Dravid, Dada, Kumble, Laxman, Srinath etc were men of principle and were too matured to allow any nonsense sentiments to grow. They were too professional to allow a handful of losses break them apart. It's not that they did not have differences of opinion, they just never washed their dirty linen in public. They always managed to resolve things in among themselves like matured adults should do. They saw the team through from ordinary to world no1 and ODI world champions. Now that their time is over, the new generation of Indian cricketers will have to stand the test of character and come out winners. Temperament is not just for the matches. One has to show the same temperament in dealing with the media, dealing with differences of opinions and dealing with one's own failures as well as team's collective failure. And not just the failures, but the way people like chappell and others keep rubbing it in. These series of defeats will separate the men from the boys. It's not about who is captain, who is vice captain and who is a gandpa. It's about who has in him what it takes to be part of an international cricket team and to succeed at length in international cricket. I hope our new generation of cricketers pass that test and will carry forward the legacy our wonderful cricketers are leaving behind.
