Nova Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Mumbai: Despite Team India's disastrous trip Down Under, Sachin Tendulkar is going to earn some accolades when Biswarup Dey, manager for the tri-series, submits his report to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in a few days. "Sachin was an example for the rest. With the team clearly divided and none to guide the juniors, Sachin did it in a great manner. He stood out as a great statesman of the game. When the entire team was divided in groups, Sachin only tried to unite the warring factions putting aside his stature," a source in the BCCI told MiD DAY on Tuesday. :proud: But one Tendulkar perhaps wasn't enough for India as there were other factors that went against them. The alleged report of a rift between captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and his deputy Virender Sehwag is also likely to figure in the manager's report. "As far as I know, the manager's report will include the entire episode of Dhoni-Sehwag rift that started during the England tour last year. The ego clash between them hasn't gone down well with other members of the team either. The Board will be suggested to sit with Dhoni and Sehwag as and when possible to sort out the differences, otherwise it can have a very bad effect on Indian cricket," the source revealed. Selectors' move to elevate Virat Kohli as vice-captain also affected the team. Apparently, Gautam Gambhir didn't take the selectors' move sportingly. "Gambhir was disappointed with the decision and following that announcement, the relationship between him and Kohli took a beating. Now, they don't even see eye-to-eye," the source assessed. Though team members were asked to concentrate on their game and not indulge in any report in the media, the infighting was on and that affected the team's spirit. "It wasn't a good sight at all with players scattered in groups," the source felt. The manager's report is also likely to recommend the need for conditioning camps before touring outside the sub-continent. "In the sub-continent one can manage a little under preparedness, but not on tours of England, Australia or South Africa. Indians were found wanting in those conditions. "So, the Board should look into the matter and organise proper camps before stepping outside the sub-continent," the source disclosed. Meanwhile, questions will be raised about the team management's decision to carry on with Zaheer Khan despite having niggles. This could be merged with it.
GautiMaan Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Players scattered in groups?:WTF: Just when you think things can't get any worse..
Laaloo Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Fking BS. Ur mancrush Dhoni was busy shopping with his wife while God was busy settling disputes :adore:
Yoda-esque Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 If true then Sehwag and Gambhir need to be dropped immediately. Problems with the coach are one thing; priblems within the team could be catastrophic
Cricket Tragic Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 This is sad. While differences are common among members in a team, you expect them to be professional and get on with things. The GG-Kohli thing is particularly disappointing if it's true. Gambhir made a big issue when he didn't get the MoM trophy once IIRC. It's not Kohli's fault that they decided to make him the VC.

Nova Posted March 8, 2012 Author Posted March 8, 2012 Fking BS. You think the articles is BS or the players behavior is BS? I think the latter. When success is becoming increasingly difficult, then true character comes out. Ego clashes are bound to happen at some stage.
Sid Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 I dont believe in that Gauti-Kohli thing, thats pure BS IMO.

King Tendulkar Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 We are the new pakistan:hysterical: While Pakistan all harmony and love to each other:cantstop: Wont last long, normal service will soon be resumed on both fronts!

I dont think he is that kind of a person, who can do such things like suggested in this report.
Stuge Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Media is trying to cash every opportunity they can .One hand they are telling us that Tendulkar did everything to keep the team unite ,and on the other hand now they are after Gambhir and Kohli . utter piece of crap .

Some of you guys have never played team sports. Trust me when a team loses and loses consistently for a sustained period of time. The *****.ing starts and the blaming of others becomes rife. Team spirit as was once said is glimpsed in moments of victory. Also when a team loses, things get ugly, I dont belive for a second that the team got raped consistently and no infighting occured. In fact would be strange if there was none.
Lord Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 shows the importance of seniors.it goes beyond runs.just imagine if SRT is dropped n new players come in a fighting dressing room, wont help them one bit. Sehwag needs to be dropped ASAP.maybe GG too but I think hes rightly miffed
zen Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Assuming that the report is true, if SRT can influence, then the situation must be bad .... full marks to srt for trying though in tests, sehwag-GG is the stronger lobby ..... probably this will lead to different captains for different formats Selectors messed it up too by promoting Kohli to VC so soon I am not taking anyone's side here w/o knowing the full story

I'm not saying infighting doesn't happen .Yes , infighting happens ,but media blows it out of proportion .
King Tendulkar Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 To be honest if I was playing under dhoni, his captaincy was legthargic, his desire was zero and his play was pathetic and has been for years in tests. I would be *****ing about dhoni as well.
