vvvslaxman Posted March 15, 2012 Author Posted March 15, 2012 See' date=' this is exactly what we were talking about. Look what the thread has descended into. Was it ever supposed to be a tribute to Dravid?[/quote'] could you blame anybody... you guys had to attack like a pack of wolves .
The Outsider Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Dude you have descended to pathethic levels lately. The question everyone has is not why Sachin is not there. the question is' date=' when Dravid is so low in the list, why is this a tribute thread. In fact, its an insult to Dravid to put him along with Inzi[/quote'] One might question the validity of this or any statistics, but the reason Dravid is low on the list compared to others like Lager, Greenidge, Inzamam is because they were part of very strong bowling attacks who could translate the runs scored by them into wins. Given, the same bowling attack Dravid tops the list among Indians - is it really that difficult to understand or are you just playing dumb in the Sachin fanaticism? The thread descended into this because moronic fan boys started craving for their dosage of Sachin in every thread and statistics. No statistics can be more rubbish fundamentally than the hundredth hundred statistics, but these morons drool over that and any other statistics where Tendulkar happens to be near the top. Where he isn't is a stat to be rubbished away. Show me some posts by these guys who derailed this thread into nonsense where they have criticized a stat where Tendulkar tops the list.
akshayxyz Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 so you can read people's minds now? wow! :giggle: Might be tough for you, but it is not difficult to read OP's bluff, given the # of brain cells (countable-on-fingertips) used in creation of OP. Btw vvs babua surely knew how everyone else's brains work, by omitting the tributee's name from title and hiding it somewhere deep in the OP. Sorry dude.. just because you need to have a peaceful sleep i cannot accept what is not true. sure sure, enlightened one. Don't forget to create a tribute thread for Sania Mirza. Here is a title you can work with - "20+ points won in a Grand Slam by a female tennis player". Rest assured, Sania will be highest ranked player from India.
akshayxyz Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Enlightened brigade, stick to the point - How is OP a tribute to Dravid?
akshayxyz Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 ^ Stick to the point of this thread. Show some appreciation for the batsmen mentioned in the OP. First elaborate on the meaningfulness of the selective filter. Kudos to Bradman and Ponting anyway.
akshayxyz Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 I dont know. I'm not a big stats guy. I failed in stats paper in college' date= took the arrears exam next semester and failed again. I finally passed it just making it like MS "The Helicopter" Dhoni usually does in ODIs. :--D You should ask the OP. tou fir apni chonch ko lagaam dein zara. Let OP handle the queries, I need to learn the art of creating 'tribute threads', I have yet to create one on ICF :sniffle:
Raghav_12 Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 I don't care whether it was tribute or to bring down anyone specific. But 'khalpat' pwned him on this one - that it was a tribute to Dravid. Least vvs should have done was' date=' filtered the list to include only Indians. :hysterical:.[/quote'] I thought he was trying to prove that he is best batsmen coming out of Karnataka, as per the stats under consideration. See Vishy is not there. .:cantstop:
vvvslaxman Posted March 15, 2012 Author Posted March 15, 2012 You believe what you want to beieve.. Bhakts demand, refuse to accept, laugh and congradulate each other .. seen it all.
Raghav_12 Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Wod.. What a tribute thread where nobody knew that it is a tribute thread until post#13 or 14. For a bastmen of Dravid's caliber, sombody uses a stat which finds Dravid so low in list wrt to other contemporaries and calls it a tribute, It's definitely take a bow attempt :hatsoff: Nowadays nobody is fooled by these proclamations of innocence. All attempts of "kahin pe nazar, kahin pe nishana" are caught immediately.
Raghav_12 Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 tou fir apni chonch ko lagaam dein zara. Let OP handle the queries, I need to learn the art of creating 'tribute threads', I have yet to create one on ICF :sniffle: On a serious note, if Boss Bhai can post a statistical tribute to Dravid, as he was planning to, then OP would know what kind of stats to use in a tribute thread. However, I doubt Boss Bhai gonna do that.
vvvslaxman Posted March 15, 2012 Author Posted March 15, 2012 Keep babbling the same thing guys.. You got anything to say about how batsmen can be match winners not just bowlers?
The Outsider Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 The delusion of these fan boys is amazing - they think if someone has to criticize Tendulkar, he would do it only in a veiled manner, otherwise he might get arrested for blasphemy. :hysterical:
Raghav_12 Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 These are hard statistics.. just because some other batsman is in the list doesn't mean it is false or untrue. Even Sunny's name is not there. Richards name is not there. SObers name is not there. Yes, but Dravid's name is there, as the level of 50% with respect to Ponting's numbers. 40% with respect to Bradman's numbers. Behind comfortably to Sanga and Langer. Clubbed with not-so-great player like Inzi. And still, this stat shows that how great was Dravid. What a tribbute ::adore:

master22 Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 vvvs if you really wanted to pay tribute to dravid you could have posted his overseas average, its the best of this generation rather than this:winky:
vvvslaxman Posted March 15, 2012 Author Posted March 15, 2012 vvvs if you really wanted to pay tribute to dravid you could have posted his overseas average' date='its the best of this generation rather than this:winky:[/quote'] That state has been beaten to death
Khalpat Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 vvvs if you really wanted to pay tribute to dravid you could have posted his overseas average' date='its the best of this generation rather than this:winky:[/quote'] Are you sure :winky: http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/index.html?class=1;home_or_away=2;template=results;type=batting Any ways Thanks Outty you have started name calling but I only asked a simple question ,with this statistics what exactly vvs wanted to say as he hasnt specified in his OP ,he answered he wanted to pay tribute to Dravid and then we were saying is it paying tribute or making fun of that great player as with your statistics basically you have put arguably second best batsman of subcontinet of all time into the league of Inzi. What exactly was wrong in that question, you call me bhakth but is this the way you intellectuals pay tribute to a great player.
Raghav_12 Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Is your problem Inzi being there? No not with that. But for a guy Dravid a stats which puts him at half of the mark wrt Ponting, behind Sanga and Langer and at Par with Inzi can not be very flattering and hard to justify in a tribute thread. The kind of stat which people use thier tributes are like following ones: Dravid will retire with a portfolio of epic innings. Most came abroad; his percentage of Test centuries scored overseas (58) and outside Asia (39) are higher than the other four galacticos. these performances came during Dravid's peak, between July 2002 and June 2006 the month in which his overall Test average peaked at 58.75. In that period, he scored 4316 runs at 69.61;Only Ricky Ponting rivalled him as the world's best Dravid, who averaged a staggering 102.84 in victories under Ganguly, was the key to that progress. Dravid is the only man to score 10,000 runs in the pivotal No3 position Hope you got the drift and nobody gonna buy the kind of stats you put as the tribute to Dravid.
vvvslaxman Posted March 15, 2012 Author Posted March 15, 2012 Are you sure :winky: http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/index.html?class=1;home_or_away=2;template=results;type=batting Any ways Thanks Outty you have started name calling but I only asked a simple question ,with this statistics what exactly vvs wanted to say as he hasnt specified in his OP ,he answered he wanted to pay tribute to Dravid and then we were saying is it paying tribute or making fun of that great player as with your statistics basically you have put arguably second best batsman of subcontinet of all time into the league of Inzi. What exactly was wrong in that question, you call me bhakth but is this the way you intellectuals pay tribute to a great player. I didnt get it why 200, is it a kind of benchmark, the better way is how many time team have won when players have made century You had your own interpretation of the thread.. then you had to ask why it is?
vvvslaxman Posted March 15, 2012 Author Posted March 15, 2012 Hope you got the drift and nobody gonna buy the kind of stats you put as the tribute to Dravid. speak for yourself.. this is one of the reason I rate Dravid highly mainly not some random averages over the course. You have to consider how much impact he made in a single test that was won. Infact i posted related to this fact. Infact this thread's idea came to me from that. I decided to find out how many times Dravid has done well in both the innings.so i used this 200 cut off mark to judge that.
