CG Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 I was thinking Dinda will not be any different from the other trundlers. Ganguly endorsing him is only confirming my belief. I just wish he atleast hits the deck and shows some heart. If he gets his chance that is. :winky: Have you not watched dinda?Whatever faults he has ,he is a guy who will run all day.he has been clocked at 145+ ,do not expect him to reach those speeds immediately but with confidence it will come.
saneindian Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Ganguly has also let the cat out of the bag by saying Pune Warriors are close to signing Michael Clarke as Yuvi's replacement. He surely cannot hold confidential info to himself.
master22 Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: Mithun, another trundler from the express phasst bowling state of Karnataka. Apart from Srinath, virtually everyone from there was a trundler, got picked. Venky Prasad, Dodda Ganesh, David Johnson, Vinny Kumar, :haha:. Big respect to Srinath though. :hatsoff:I once saw a test match in a dead pitch in India where he broke a SL batsman's nose. How I wish it was Bungakarakara's nose. India always produced trundlers until very recently, you are talking as if we be churning out ultra fast bowlers every year. As far as ganguly is concerned he cannot keep his mouth shut!
Cricket Tragic Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Have you not watched dinda?Whatever faults he has ' date='[b']he is a guy who will run all day.he has been clocked at 145+ ,do not expect him to reach those speeds immediately but with confidence it will come. Another Ishant Sharma. :((
CG Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Clocking at 145 is one thing. Maintaining the speed throughout the match and through your career is another. My respect for Yadav increased as the tour progressed. He is still raw but I liked the intent shown by him. Even Yadav has a big challenge in maintaining that speed through his career like someone like Lee does. He is 35 and bowls over 150 consistently. Bolded part - This is the failure of Indian cricketing culture. When the bowler is new to the international areana and he his getting smashed for trying to bowl quick, he is usually asked by the bowler to cut down his speed. Happens even in school and college cricket I played. Then how do you expect the bowler to be confident so that his speed will increase. YOu have to realize the genius of someone like Imran Khan. He told Wasim and Waqar when they were struggling to find line and length to NEVER compromise on pace. We need a leader like him in the captaincy and selection panel as well. Dhoni is no imran,Dinda knows one poor game and he is gone.In india performance matters any bowler who debuts or make a come back nerves take over, with confidence pace will increase .
CG Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 True. I never said we are phast bowler country. I just HATE :wall: seeing these trundlers in action whereas a small country like NZ produces a legend like Bond. You mean james bond,As shane bond is nowhere close to being a legend.
Cricket Tragic Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Yes, because Prasad was slow, he cannot be a bowling coach.
Karan114 Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Ganguly has also let the cat out of the bag by saying Pune Warriors are close to signing Michael Clarke as Yuvi's replacement. He surely cannot hold confidential info to himself. Certainly seems like it :haha:
Crookbond Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Yes' date=' because Prasad was slow, he cannot be a bowling coach.[/quote'] Can Kumble be because he bowled faster?
vishalvirsingh Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 I saw srinath bowling in wankhade test against Africa Srinath was as fast as Donald and Klusner iF not faster...... All batters of Africa were scared of him even on a wankhade track- He was DEADLY but a simple guy. I am sure his fastest ball would have touched 145+ in that test. I did not find records of his pace in that test though- he had a natural inswinging bouncer which was tuf to face.
CG Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 You have no clue my friend. Bond has one of the best strike rates EVER. He has taken 87 wickets in 18 tests. That means close to 5 wickets a game. If he didnt have any injuries' date=' he would be challenging Steyn for the best bowler title. IMO in full flight he was better than Lee and Akhtar.[/quote'] My friend ,If akhtar did not have attitude problems he would be one of the world best bowlers,"If " does not count he was a good on helpful tracks but looked out of place in Sc conditions,There is no way he is regarded as a legend. He was a very good bowler and thats it.
CG Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 Not because he was slow but he was telling bowlers to cut down pace and his ridiculous net sessions. Before his appointment, Ishant was a strike bowler in oz. After Prasad came in, his mantra was to practice bowling straight for ONE FULL HOUR in the nets. And he praised Ishant for being dedicated and criticized others for focusing more on strength training and not crazy enough to bowl one hour in the nets. Is it any wonder that he went from Shotgun to Popgun in a matter of years. His pace went up after Prasad was sacked. Prasad wass a rubbish cricketer and rubbish coach who thought he knew everything that is to know about bowling. You cannot practice for 1 hour bowling. That is like Ishant bowling 15 overs straight and that too without any bowler bowling from the other end. Are you freaking kidding me Prasad. And Prasad, strength training matters. Of course Prasad wont know about it because he ate Dosa and Veg biriyani and go straight to bowl. :haha: :hysterical::hysterical: We cannot bowl 4 bowls on good line and we should be doing strength training. What irony

Crookbond Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 Swing is in the air brah. It's like the "bouncing yorkers" comments on CI. OR "full-length yorkers" comment on ICF !
CG Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 Bowling 15 overs on the trot is not going to help accuracy. Having better aim does :hysterical: Even if it did, bowlers will break down after a year or two. Guess what happened to Ishant. Rgiht amount of strength training is necessary for the punishment they will take esp as a bowler. You cannot have twigs for legs and hope to bowl 20 overs in a day. :omg: have you guys ever played cricket.Unless you practice in the nets how will you develop,There is time for gym and all but nets is important.
CG Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 Barry Richards is considered a legend. He only played 4 tests becayse of Apartheid. Yeah I dont think Bond is in that category' date=' maybe legend was too high a title but he was much more than just a good bowler. His strike rate is something.[/quote'] Barry richards is diff ,he could not play due to diff reasons for a international side.
rkt.india Posted March 18, 2012 Author Posted March 18, 2012 :omg: have you guys ever played cricket.Unless you practice in the nets how will you develop' date='There is time for gym and all but nets is important.[/quote'] Both have their places and both are necessary elements. You need net practice as much as you can , but there should be some method thought process behind that nest. Bowling to some batsmen randomly is not the right thing to do for a bowler. Bowlers need make plan for every net session and derive a method to execute that plan as what he is going to don in this net session and where he needs to work. Similarly if we talk about gym, you cannot bowl when you are working out at gym in the evening or at night. Bowling is mostly done in the morning or afternoon. There is different time frame for both activities.
