Indian Bowlers Are Officially Brain Dead

What's new? Don't you know this? Our bowling is expected to be ****, its the job of our batsmen to make up for their inability
But this is bordering on pathetic levels. With our pool of players and budget our back-up ODI bowlers should be more than capable using some iota of the pink goo in their thick skulls. Batsmen don't even have to take risks against our bowling to comfortably chug along at 6 rpo.

I hv been saying since a long time that Ind bowlers need to look to pick wkts in ODIs. They are not good enough to be able to bowl a containment line or create such pressure .... We had Sree who used to look for wkts. He used to look to bowl quick but our "pace is not everything", " cut down pace and bowl the containing line", "PK is great because he can ...." etc mentality made sure that wkt taking bowlers, bowlers with aggressive attitude, etc took a back seat .... And what we are left with is a crop that can't contain but don't even know how to pick wkts .... Stop complaining abt our bowling as Ind is reaping what it sowed And if we don't get away from celebrating meaningless records, the day is not far when a batsman on 99 goes for a single on the last ball when Ind needs a 4. Ind loses but the batsman jumps in the air to celebrate his 100 Really, we have a pathetic sporting culture ....

Sree did not take wickets or be economical. He has had a few good wicket taking spells but generally was just a rubbish ODI bowler. PK used to be able to do both at his best.

Sree, even at his best, leaked runs.

Don't forget that guys like Sree were never really allowed to express themselves. Remember the remark by Viru "everyone did well except ...." and than in the final, when SL hit a 4, we had tons of guys surrounding him to offer "valuable" advise Note Sree is being used as an example here ....

Why did you sort the list with RPO in ascending order ? The RPO is high because India plays mostly on flat batting decks where 300+ totals are the order of the day. They also won 16 out of 31 games they played and a World Cup before that. Shouldnt that count for something ?

Sree' date=' even at his best, leaked runs.[/quote'] the mentality of he "leaked runs" is the exact problem why Ind is in this situation :P

This is true, but even by our low standards, this is getting simply abysmal. Bangla scoring 293, Hafeez/Jamshed putting on 244...

Sree SR is 33 in ODI's too, he is a natural wicket taker, if he played regularly and had backing, he would have had even better stats. He should play all formats. No one mentions ZK and Srinath being slogged to death in 03 final, with worse econom than Sree in 2011 final! And don't forget those guys had benefit of getting into rhythm by playing in lead up to final! Anyway ZK went for 35 runs in the last 2 overs at the death. In ODI you need a wicket taker who may be expensive some day and some bowlers to keep it tight. Right now these guys suck at all..

anyone who has watched him bowl in ODIs would know that he does leak runs. if you still think its just a "mentality" that he leaks runs then just look at all bowlers who taken more than 50 wickets in ODIs and you will see that he's top of the list in terms of economy rate - link
