Pagalpanti Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 His action is dodgy no doubt but I don't mind if bowlers get a bit lee way. Its no fun watching bowlers getting thrashed. He and Ashwin ended up with almost similar figures but the difference was he was testing batsman and Ashwin was just being milked for runs. In fact ever since Harbhajan cut-down on his doosra even after being cleared, he was ineffective.

He relies on that one weapon.
Pagalpanti Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 ^Of course but I don't mind bowlers getting a bit of relaxation in this matter. Isn't it exciting to watch close battle between bat and ball?
vvvslaxman Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 ^Of course but I don't mind bowlers getting a bit of relaxation in this matter. Isn't it exciting to watch close battle between bat and ball? No complaints.. Just that i want to see which right hander is going to flourish against him. An inform Viru would have made mincemeat of him because of his ability to play the ball from stumps to off side. Also he plays very late. I dont think he troubles lefties as much. But right handers do have problems in picking him.
Vijay.Sharma Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 I don't think this is a genuine news item. I think this as a very disgusting piece of news-creation by the media. I don't think the Indian team has any problem with Ajmal's action and more importantly I don't think India (read BCCI) wants to get involved in the act of "accusing chucking business" as a policy and rightly so. Remove chuckers from our domestic team and let ICC do its business on the chucking thingy. Secondly BCCI needs the Asian bloc's support hence they don't risk such kinda stuff with SL and Pak.
Crookbond Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 Not only is the news pathetic but also the fact that people labeling Ajmal as the cheat, I'm not sure who gave them the bragging rights to do so. A cheat is a very strong word.
Bumper Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 ICC has no credibility handling chuckers. They take chuckers into some labs, run some experiments and then set them free. How can a system that sets literally every chucker free be credible ? That said, assuming his action is legit, Ajmal is a magical spinner, it would be unfair if he is not allowed to ply his trade the same way Murali was allowed to. I just dont know how a right hand batsman would play him, though. If you reach the ball playing across off the front foot, you always run the risk of an edge (esp, when he comes around the stumps). The least risk strategy is to play him late and straight off the back foot. But that's defensive, you cannot score easily with that strategy. In ODI mode there is pressure on batsmen to keep the scorecard ticking and that pressure can buy you wickets. You just have to hope that once in a while Ajmal will drop it short and you can cut him for a boundary. I would not assume Sehwag would have nailed Ajmal. But that would be a heck of a contest though. With his attacking strategy, Sehwag would have likely forced Ajmal to rethink his line/length and that could upset his rhythm. Even had Veeru played, I doubt he would have lasted for 10 overs to offer us that privilege. Anyways, I notice this guy is already 34. What was Ajmal doing in his 20s ? I dont think Pakistan had such a good spinner in the last decade. If Ajmal was side lined due to selection errors, that would be one of the biggest blunders in Pak cricket history (yes, even by Pakistani standards!)

Yoda-esque Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 ^Play him like a pace bowler.Dont reach out but wait for the ball with a good bat preparation and play the ball late. Thats the mistake Tendlya makes..He tries to reach out ,smother the spin and nudge the ball around. The ball reaches him faster than he is ready for it and strikes him on the pads or zips through because of top spin.

He was sidelined because of Saqlain Mushtaq.. read it somewhere long time back
Sid Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 Almost all the offies who bowl the "doosra" chuck :headshake: fixed.
Zelig Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 fixed. Hafeez, Samuels and Shoaib Malik don't bowl the doosra but they still chuck.
Sid Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 Hafeez' date=' Samuels and Shoaib Malik don't bowl the doosra but they still chuck.[/quote'] Ya I forgot Samuels but Hafeez doesnt chuck.
Crookbond Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 One can only hope that this is something that that rag' date=' TOI, cooked up and not the actual words used by either the BCCI or the players.[/quote'] I don't think so. I think TOI (knowing their stupid minds) used their magical powers of deduction to write this from Duncan Fletcher's footage during the game.
Zelig Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 Ya I forgot Samuels but Hafeez doesnt chuck. I don't know about you, but I've always found his action fishy.
ganeshran Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 How Samuels is allowed to bowl is beyond me, he just runs in and throws the ball as fast as he can.
Sid Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 Samuels is a pure chucker, this guy was banned before for chucking (?),but still is chucking his way through.Hafeez on the other hand is okay,he may be chucking 1-2 balls per spell :cantstop:
Bumper Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 He was sidelined because of Saqlain Mushtaq.. read it somewhere long time back That does not make sense. By 2004, Saqlain was some 50 pound heavier, weighed down by his ever growing beard and had lost most of his magic. Sehwag packed him off at Multan. Ajmal would have been 25 or 26 back then. He should have been picked ahead of the many ordinary spinners who played for Pakistan. I thought at that time the PCB administration (under Shahrayar Khan or whatever his name is) was stable.
singhprakash72 Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 The statement "In Saeed Ajmal's case we have tested him, we have monitored him even in the live situations, he bowls within the allowed degree of tolerance. So there isn't any issue with him," Lorgat told a news channel. this is so subjective that any tom dick n harry can bowl with a bended arm...it is simply unfair to off spinner like Swann. To me it is simple the only way you can bowl Doosra or Tesra is by Chucking !!!
