Lara V Tendulkar

I'm not saying that McGrath's presence caused Sachin to get a low score but the fact is that unless McGrath was playing' date= the Australian attack was not at it's best because he was their best bowler.
Not necessary, McGrath can have a bad day, and other bowlers can be more difficult to face on their day.

Not necessary' date=' McGrath can have a bad day, and other bowlers can be more difficult to face on their day.[/quote'] McGrath did not have too many bad days. He was unbelievably accurate and economical. Over his career i don't think a single batsman clearly got the better of him.

I was talking more about some people who filter sachin against wasim, waqar, ambrose, walsh, mcgrath, sir john, odombe etc to prove God knows what

Lara is a great batsman everyone. He performs his best when playing the best unlike SRT who bullies minnows...
:giggle:
Lara performed better than SRT when they faced McGrath :icflove: Lara when McGrath played: In tests :- 24 matches - Average - 46.38 In ODIs :- 29 matches - Average - 44.44 Link Sachin when McGrath played: In tests :- 9 matches - Average - 36.77 In ODIs :- 29 matches - Average - 36 Link Lara >>> SRT when they faced McGrath. PS:- McGrath got Laras wicket more times bcoz simple he played more vs Lara :fishing:.

Let's not use common sense :P .... All we are suppose to go by is statements like " how stopped Lara/sobers/insert name to play more, bash minnows, etc" :haha: Whenever the conditions are tough, usually you get a feeling that Sachin will not stand up. And that reflects in his avg which goes does down when we hv two lethal bowlers in the opposition. Check McGrath-Warne (both in the opposition). He also doesn't hv that many innings against these bowlers so you can't give the same weight age to Sachin's avg as to Lara's, who only has 4 tests against zim and bd in a career spanning 17 yrs. Even SRT fanboys know, Sachin cannot stand on such parameters so they toot overall (as it includes many tests against weaker teams and relatively under strength sides like when he played Aus in 2008, 2004, etc) When playing minnows, the impression I get is: Lara ----> :wall: Sachin ----> :yay: (time to up my avg, get 100th 100 or whatever)

If you had read my posts in this thread I have raised this question. Just because Sachin's average is low when Mcgrath played, can you prove that the low average was CAUSED by McGrath? In the same matches Sachin struggled against Gillespie and got out to him more than to McGrath. So if the low averages were not CAUSED by McGrath then what does those numbers prove? In those 9 matches Sachin palyed, there were at leat 3-4 other bowlers bowling than McGrath. So how does these filtered stats prove anything I will give an easy example. Rohit Sharma plays 3 matches against Afridi and so does Kohli. In those 3 matches, Rohit sharma scores a total of 100 runs and get dismissed by Afridi twice. In the same matches, Kohli gets run out twice on zero and is once out to Ajmal on 40 So according to your logic rohit is a much better player of Afridi as Rohit's average is 33 with Afridi in the opposition and Kohli's is 15. But were those averages caused by Afridi?

Of course Sachin cannot stand up to such made up stats as average against Mcgrath and Warne where when he gets run out the credit goes to McGrath and Warne's presence. Your stat against Warne-McGrath doesnt in any way prove that Sachin's low average was caused by the presence of them particularly when any cricket watching public knows that Sachin absolutely owned Warne Its also true that Mcgrath had the upper hand vs Sachin but your made up stats of Sachin vs X bowler doesnt make any sense

I was referring to the post , lara was mcgraths bunny bcoz mcgrath got lara 15 times but he got sachin only 9 times .. :nervous: you point is very valid and even i endorse that , it will be good if someone can pick how many runs lara or sachin scored of McGraths bowling:om: but its well known fact that McGrath targets the best batsmen + captain in every side , he might have targeted both and lara is better from the stats :hatsoff:

Same stats were immaterial for you in Sachin v Viv comparison :giggle:

i agreed that statwise sachin is better than viv in tests :icflove: i always try to be neutral FYKI :hatsoff: plz check this SachDan :icflove:
My Conclusion Viv scored roughly 1 century in every 5 tests, but sachin scored 1 in every 3.7 tests. Viv averaged 50 , but sachin averaging 55 , thats a high 10% more. So based on stats its clear that, Sachin >> Viv in Tests. :omg: Viv scored roughly 1 century in every 17 ODIs, but sachin scored 1 in every9.4 macthes. Viv averaged 47, but sachin is averaging 45 and sachin can very well catch him in averages part before he retires. :two_thumbs_up: So based on stats its a tie , viv ==Sachin in ODIs. I am bit surprised after checking the stats , and stats clearly give verdict that sachin is better than viv. But we all know stats are almost everything but still it hides few essential things. If you know what those stats imply, you wouldn't need to make such statements as 'it doesn't matter how he gets out or to whom he gets out to'. Players like McGrath and Warne exert enough pressure to make batsman create mistakes (like get run out) or make them go after other bowlers to get themselves out or whatever Link: McGrath and Warne both playing Again Lara 51 (in 16 tests) vs Sachin 42 (in 7 tests), which is close to the the avg I posted with a lot of "pair" thrown in. I guess, Sachin got run out (getting run out in tests is in itself funny) or threw his wkt away to other bowlers in just abt every game because he figured he could get out sooner or later :hysterical: PS Link: When "both" McGrath and Warne are NOT playing With McGrath and Warne both not playing, suddenly poor Sachin's luck improves and he is not getting run out anymore. Avg goes up to 60 in 21 tests. (Lara avg 68 in 3 tests.) .... Sachin :hail:
