BCCI Conclave to improve dom cricket: Uncovered Pitches, More bouncers per over, Overhaul Points System

At last BCCI get their lazy arses moving by reviving the BCCI Conclave involving domestic players, coaches and officials to discuss the state of domestic cricket. Some points that will be discussed are: -Playing on uncovered pitches -Allowing three bouncers per over :two_thumbs_up: -Providing more rest between games -Having one group for for Elite and Plate (hence playing 14 games at Elite and 11 at Plate):two_thumbs_up: -Getting rid of the some of the limited over tournaments. -Discuss the stupidity of selection of zonal teams in October after Ranji has finished in Jan (selection is based on performances over 9 months ago):facepalm: -And the big one, overhauling the Ranji points to encourage to teams to win rather than exploit the system. :two_thumbs_up: http://www.thehindu.com/sport/cricket/article2994290.ece -I still think they should find a way to have all the international players play at least 25% of the Ranji games through the season. -Rather than uncovered pitches I would like to see them prepare sporting pitches (turners, grass, bounce). Uncovered pitches will result in stupid games. -Would like to see more funding go to state teams to improve their academies and facilities, I just don't think BCCI revenues are fed down to grass-root levels. -Include curators in these discussions too, and maybe other stakeholders national/domestic selectors, TV broadcasters, fans, physios. -And publish an online report of the discussion and conclusions, and how all the decisions will be implemented, or else this conclave will just drift off with nothing being done.

How many domestic matches Aussie, Saffer, and English international players play? It is all about pitches, quality of bowling, and the kind of ball we use, SG which is at fault here.

With BCCI, its not the declaration of intent that really matters, but the execution of these ideas. BCCI have never been short of lofty ideas that remain only on paper. I don't trust these guys. It may be just another eyewash. In the interests of Indian cricket, I really hope to be proved wrong.

But who cares what others do. Having the international players play a few Ranji games will be hugely beneficial and might pinpoint to lack of form or any other glaring weaknesses.

It wont make much difference. It wont lift other players' standard or standard of domestic cricket. We will still have same bowlers bowling, same pitches, etc.

Agree, but it also depends on how interested our seniors will be playing these matches. I remember whenever Sehwag plays in in domestic cricket, he rarely scores runs which must be more due to his disinterest rather than his ability.

No in the long term it will makes our batsmen better. Nowadays, batsmen score big in Ranji and then go onto an Australian tour and get smasshed. Players like Tendulkar, Dravid are the exception that proves the rule. Once batsmen get humbled by low scores, they will understand that you need better technique to survive and score runs. Batters cannot just plant their front foot and play across the line. They will need to be much more judiciious and not take anything for granted.

what we need is a good balance..this wet pitches is too much we just need normal supporting tracks and good mix of turners and green pitches there is no shortcut here im not in favour of absolute bowling tracks.. well this will take time.. its not gonna happen instantly in mean time they should send teams to other countries more often... nothing can compare to actual tour abroad ...

First of all wet pitches will only be possible if there is rain. Second of all wet pitches doesnt mean it will be too favorable for bowling. Our soil is not that strong to make it too in favor of bowling. And then how are you going to know if you dont try. Tours abroad will only help a little bit. WHat happens if they give batting pitches liek Adelaide. That wont be ideal preparation for youngsters.

like i said.. there should be full tour..so that they get to learn there anyway nothing is going to change.. bcci jsut wasting our time again

That was my point. Better guidance is what our bowlers need. They have all the talents but lack some one who can guide them how to use that talent from a young age.

This. Our bowlers need specialized coaches. In most of the teams the coaches are batsmen and ex-trundlers. Pick the 'pool' of fast bowlers, get some good fast bowling coaches from abroad as their full time coaches and let them develop. In case of spinners, I am sure we can get good Indian coaches. Anyway there is no dearth of batting coaches. The so-called cricket academies should become genuine centres of cricket learning. At present they are just glorified gyms.
