G_B_ Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 great bump.. i'll bump more.. :hysterical: bump away :two_thumbs_up:
G_B_ Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 Bad luck Royals. You fought away but in the end it was not enough. I thought Watson and Hodge let the side down today. Hodge especially just could not get the ball away Also it was poor to go into Eden without a spinner. I thought Dravid in general was poor tactically. I personally would have played Tambe as you had the option to cover him with Binny. Still a great tournament and unless something happens off the field RR are in the champions league. Some positive for the franchise.
SLICKR392 Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 still should have played Harmeet then Risky but a good pick or should have dropped Cooper for Badree.
vvvslaxman Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 Even with all bad team selection, fixing, bad batting, it was their fielding that let them down more than anything else. Atrocious fielding. Just wilted under pressure.
someone Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 still should have played Harmeet then Who exactly is this Harmeet? Doing well in Under 19s does not mean he is quality. You think like Chappell who said that Harmeet was the best spinner in India? And mind you, he did play against Pune. And I was extremely shocked by his performances. Not only he bowled poor but he had one of the most laziest action ever seen. Looked like a part spinner only.
someone Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 Even with all bad team selection' date=' fixing, bad batting, it was their fielding that let them down more than anything else. Atrocious fielding. As Rahul Dravid said, it was only their fielding which let them down.

Team selection in the sense.. it was like hobson's choice for them. They had no spinners.. That is what i was referring to.
yoda Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 Just saw replay of the dropped catch by Brad Hodge. That was as easy as they come.

And it's not like having spinners would have changed the game. Their bowling was good yesterday, but it was their fielding which crucially let the pressure drop.

Zelig Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 I don't think spinners would have made any difference. Dew :boffing:

I just think its not a wise idea to not play a spinner at Eden gardens. The commentators said the same. I am sure with Chavan and Chandalia both would have played.

Cooper played well before yesterday and adds a lot to the team. You ideally want to play your best team everytime. And as mentioned before, spinner would not have changed the outcome yesterday as it was some poor fielding effort by RR which costed them.

I told slickr the same thing, that it would be a mistake not to play a spinner even before the game started. Most newspapers were of that opinion to. You just dont go into Eden Gardens without a spinner. and how do you know a spinner would not change the outcome? Last over 8 runs were needed. There is a good chance a spinner would have made it 12/13 runs. You are talking as if Mumbai reached the target with 2 overs to spare. Did you even watch the game? The problem was that the RR attack was just too one dimensional.

The problem was that the RR attack was just too one dimensional. Look, firstly there is never a perfect formula in anything in sports. Just because many teams play in a particular style, doesn't mean that every team should play like that. Playing spinners is just a common idea but can never be a must. Every team has its own strengths and they should bank on that. So for RR it is the so called one dimensional attack which this season has made them win so many matches. So I cannot see any issue in them playing the side yesterday. Thus, the side was not a problem, it's the basic fielding errors which cost them. How hard is it for you to understand?
