CG Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 There are so many similarities b/w Strauss and Dhoni's overall captaincy stint. Both are highly defensive captains who have not performed well with the bat. Also' date=' tiheir poor forms have been over shadowed with the teams' winning. But now Strauss finds himself in the same boat as that of MSD. But the only difference is that [u']everyone knows Strauss can score but MSD can't :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: i though both can't
vamos_rafa Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: i though both can't Strauss has had a few succesful series as a batsman which is not the case with MSD. But as captains I think their averages are pretty close.

vamos_rafa Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 Strauss has been horrible for few years now' date='Age is catching up now.he should retire after this series.[/quote'] Oh le and I was thinking that only India players were eligible for retirement these days.
CG Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 Oh le and I was thinking that only India players were eligible for retirement these days. It is the "Just Retirement Series" After all.
saneindian Posted March 31, 2012 Author Posted March 31, 2012 Strauss has had a few succesful series as a batsman which is not the case with MSD. But as captains I think their averages are pretty close. Why would you even compare the two as a batsman? One is a specialist batsman , the other a keeper batsman.
vvvslaxman Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 They can't drop him... It's the 'TINA' factor.. They don't have any decent replacement as an opener..And they were criticising Indians for not having proper replacements of the BIG 4.. :phehehe: Until they find a suitable South African he will enjoy
Pagalpanti Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 ^Saffers not helping them much in SC. They need to find some asians who can play spin :giggle:
vvvslaxman Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 ^Saffers not helping them much in SC. They need to find some asians who can play spin :giggle: Ravi bopara is a decent player against spin. He did well against pakistan. His injury was a blow to them.
vamos_rafa Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 Why would you even compare the two as a batsman? One is a specialist batsman ' date=' the other a keeper batsman.[/quote'] Nopes my intent was not that. I was just trying to jolt down a similar trends in their captaincy stints. Their ride as captains have been pretty similar and that's what I meant.

Strauss is a specialist batsmen, Dhoni is a Wicket keeper, Dhoni is like an alrounder.
CG Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 But Strauss cant keep. Strauss is a specialist batsmen' date=' Dhoni is a Wicket keeper, Dhoni is like an alrounder.[/quote'] strauss is a good slip fielder and batting wise miles ahead of dhoni in tests, even though his average is 41 currently but it was near 45 .
rkt.india Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 strauss is a good slip fielder and batting wise miles ahead of dhoni in tests' date='even though his average is 41 currently but it was near 45 .[/quote'] So he cannot play as a slip fielder but Dhoni can play as a keeper and Dhoni also had an average in 40s once.
Cricket Tragic Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 Yeh obviously sky dont show much first class stuff which is by far his game' date=' but they showed the warks hampshire game at the end of last season and Carberry hit a very solid ton. In limited overs he isnt great but he should be good for tests I reckon. Not really many other openers around.[/quote'] There are other openers around but they are viewed as being too young.
