rkt.india Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 they need to play sammy as all rounder.. he is def not a frontline test bowler. he is not a good enough batsman in tests.
Old guy Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 he is not a good enough batsman in tests. is there a good replacement ?
rkt.india Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 is there a good replacement ? yes. Roach and Taylor both better bowlers than Sammy.
Old guy Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 yes. Roach and Taylor both better bowlers than Sammy. i mean in batting ? is there some one who can bat better then this guy at no7 ? let him play at 7 he can bat and bowl a bit play 4 front line bowlers
The Dark Horse Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 sammy my fav' date='he play with great passion always :hatsoff:[/quote'] :hatsoff:
rkt.india Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 i mean in batting ? is there some one who can bat better then this guy at no7 ? let him play at 7 he can bat and bowl a bit play 4 front line bowlers but 7 number is fixed for wicketkeeper. 6 batsmen, 1 keeper, and 4 bowlers. Alrounder can only bat at 6 while Sammy bats at #8 for WI in tests. It is liek Harbhjana or Ashiwn battign for India who both are specialist bowler first and batsmen later. People talk about Ishant to be dropped from the test team who has done better than him but regarding Sammy they say he has done so well as a bowler. You cannot have two different parameters for 2 players. Regarding his captaincy, captain is as good as his team. There is only so much a captain can do.

He is good as a captain and that is why he is playing, but saying he is good enough just as a player is a futile exercise.
Old guy Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 Yes. He is good as a captain and that is why he is playing' date=' but saying he is good enough just as a player is a futile exercise.[/quote'] well when i think abt him ..i think of standard of players of west indies team..thy are doing well but remember they were even beaten by bangladesh... see the performance of strauss as captain :dontknow: maybe change him after a year but right now these guys need him
rkt.india Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 well when i think abt him ..i think of standard of players of west indies team..thy are doing well but remember they were even beaten by bangladesh... see the performance of strauss as captain :dontknow: maybe change him after a year but right now these guys need him No they were not beaten by Bangaldesh if you see it was a C team which was played against BD. BD cannot beat them otherwise. They rolled BD for 58 in WC. Indian team cannot even think of even Barmuda to dismiss for 58. WI bowling is strong. Their batsmen are inconsistent.

Sid Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 He is a better performing test captain than Dhoni and Strauss.
rkt.india Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 He is a better performing test captain than Dhoni and Strauss. :hysterical:
Old guy Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 He is a better performing test captain than Dhoni and Strauss. :hysterical: its the truth.
rkt.india Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 its the truth. 59 wickets in 21 tests is certainly outperforming Dhoni and Strauss.:giggle:
Old guy Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 59 wickets in 21 tests is certainly outperforming Dhoni and Strauss.:giggle: atleast he is outperforming our ishant :--D
rkt.india Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 atleast he is outperforming our ishant :--D how. Both has similar ratio of wicket per test right now. Ishant had 3 horrible test series in England, against WI at home and then Aus which have seriously hampered his stats. Ishant has only 20-21 wickets in 11 tests in these series.
saneindian Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 I already said he is a very good enthusiastic captain' date=' but for tests, [b']he takes less than 3 wickets per test which is not what you want from a front line bowler. Team only plays 4 bowlers one is like Sammy. A good team want all four genuine bowlers. He is not a genuine bowler. How he is a perfect third seamer. You want a third seamer like Tremlett or Bresnan, or like Gillespie to McGrath and Lee or like Morkel to Steyn and Philender and it is not like WI do not have options. They have 4 four good genuine fast bowler if play together can bring better results for the team in tests, but they are bound to play Sammy as third seamer because he is captain. He can make an 11 in ODIs for WI, but not tests, especially after less than 3 wickets per test and with likes of Taylor and Roach sitting outside. Even Taylor is less than 3 wicket per test yet, but he bring X-factor with him and can win matches n his own bowling, same with Edwards who is getting better now who is a 5-fer man for WI with 11 5-fers in 51 tests and a fair SR of 56. Edwards- 51 tests, 154 wickets~ 3 wickets a test Rampaul- 13 tests, 35 wickets~ 3 wickets a test Roach- 14 tests, 43 wickets~ 3 wickets a test Taylor- 29 tests, 82 wickets~ 3 wickets a test We can keep talking of XYZ factors, but Sammy is as effective as others and isn't really blocking anyone's spot. Had our 3rd seamer Ishant been taking 3 wickets a test at a similar average and strike rate as Sammy in SA, Eng and Australia minus the XYZ factor, the story of those series could have been different :((
