indiefan Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 Looks like Rahane and Chawla are playing. Don't agree with it. Not so much about Rahane, that's fine but then our bowling attack is far from balanced. Chawla/Ojha/Ashwin/Ishant, nooooo. Only Ojha is guaranteed there to at least bowl half threatening. Jaddu at 6 to help balance the bowling and play 2 seamers-dinda and awana. Any other source? Guys, give me some hope that this news is false. Even Matt Prior will start dreaming about a double hundred.
Brainfade Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 There's no huge mystery behind his selection. He is a leggie and they want some variation. Apart from him' date= there is Mishra who got an opportunity in the past and couldnt do much. There's not much choice. In other words, we're desperate for variety. Sigh .....

superstar Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 Even Tendulkar can bowl leg spin if Dhoni is that desperate for variety. Piyush can bat as good as Tendu in the current form and bowl better than Tendu. I think Piyush can be replace Tendu :hatsoff:
saneindian Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 Amit Mishra could so easily have got a second leaf to his international career.. All he needed to do was to get fitter during the off season and he could have been an automatic choice for the leg spinner's slot given the dearth of spinners. Instead all he has done since the Eng tour is to bloat up more and more. Despite all that fat, he still has had decent returns in FC season so far, 8 matches, 28 wickets compared to Chawla's 10 wickets in 4. Not sure what to make of Chawls's recall though. Will not be worse than any of our 3 bowlers barring Ojha. So anyone coming in will not change things much right now.
namasteji1 Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 Maybe i need to get into cricket now, hardly any players coming through. It was my childhood dream .
CG Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 Maybe i need to get into cricket now' date=' hardly any players coming through. It was my childhood dream .[/quote'] :two_thumbs_up: .Make sure you sign up with Rhiti sports If you want direct entry in to indian team.

VRV Singh Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 I think they would have only recalled this clown if they planned to play him. Awana for ZK looked like more a phoney statement and I can't see Awana playing (nothing against him).
King Tendulkar Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 Looks the facts are chawla is rubbish and will get smoked. Ridculous selction based on nothing else apart from he is a leg spinner
VRV Singh Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 He is another spinner who will bat better than he bowls :giggle: at least we can have some more heroic runs in vain when top order fails.
NareshK Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 Maybe i need to get into cricket now' date=' hardly any players coming through. It was my childhood dream .[/quote'] Not too late. Make sure you get into CSK cheerleading squad and you will be making your test debut in no time. :winky:
vamos_rafa Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 Go to the scorecard that L'Etranger posted in his thread about Raina - Chawla had figures of 1-108 in 31 overs. Out of a total of 308. Against a mighty opponent - Vidarbha - on this very ground. He took the 10th wicket. The only reasons I can come up with for his selection: (a) We are desperate for variety (b) He was already there' date= so they didn't have to pay his travel costs © something sinister. :hysterical::hysterical:
Trundler27 Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 hmmm Dhoni likes 'leggies' Chawal and Jaddu have kept him fit during the off season funny thing is that you can look at this fat turd's facial expression and discern that he is going to get swept for a six on the forthcoming delivery :yay:
Yoda-esque Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 Chawla won't be that bad a choice..I mean,after Ashwin's bowling..
Eternal Atma Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 Chawla was outbowled by Viru in kanpur test v SA.
Muloghonto Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 1. Jadeja deserves his chance- any player who scores three triple tons in just over a year in FC cricket is an auto-selection for the test team, unless you have positions 1-7 all averaging 50+. I wouldnèt care if this was the Indian middle order of 2002 or Aussie middle order from 7 years ago, triple triple centurion in FC cricket is an auto-select. 2. You dont get to improve your teams professional attitude, skillbase etc. if you are willing to ignore FC performances. The two most successful teams in the last 20 years, RSA and AUS, both have consistent policies of rewarding FC performers. You dont get players like Mike Hussey if you dont reward FC performers and if you are not prepared to give someone who scores 3 triples in FC cricket the shot, might as well put up a disclaimer that FC cricket means absolutely nothing. Yes, not all FC stars are cut out to be Test stars and many will fail. What is important, is the process-perform exceptionally well in FC cricket and you get a shot. That has to be our mentality from now on, not the airy-fairy notion of talent. 3. Jadeja is a Dravid-Pujara-Laxman mentality player. Ie, he does not just bash, bash and bash, his first instinct is to block and be mr sticky. In a team of talented but inconsistent strokeplayers, we need a batsman who is not bothered scoring 10 off of 50 deliveries when the situation calls for it. As far as temperament goes, Jadeja is ahead of Kohli, Rohit, etc. with only Pujara being one as temperamentally good as Jadeja.
Muloghonto Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 Technique can be cultivated. As i said and you keep ignoring, Chanderpaul, Steve Waugh, Kallis, etc. did not come to international side with a strong technique and it took Kallis more than two years to start averaging in double digits IIRC.
