WHy would pray for an Indian loss? Yes they are playing badly and look to have given up already but stranger things have happened in cricket. So who knows.. Assuming we do go onto lose the series, think it will be forgotten like 8-0 was. We play a ODI series with Pak next and should win that because we are a much better ODI unit than a test side. What do you think will matter man to the man on street? A test series loss to Eng or a series win vs Pak?

I wouldn't attribute this slump to transition. We were hammered convincingly last year even with Dravid and VVS in the team while Australia, if you remember back in 2010 in Mohali nearly beat us in a tight test match even with a team that was in transition. It took a mammoth 11th wicket partnership between VVS and Ishant to prevent that from happening. I'd go a step further and say this "transition" wouldn't have even happened if we hadn't been humiliated the way we were last year. The fact is that for whatever reason, we just can't seem to keep producing adequate quantities of quality players like other top teams do, not even going to bring up the cliched "When was the last time India produced a decent fast bowler" point, look at the batsmen, they simply can't play test cricket anymore. There's simply no excuse whatsoever for being bowled out for less than 400 on a pitch like this. I think the problem might be cultural, I think the team and the BCCI have let last year's world cup win (which was a fluke btw) get to their heads. They think they've achieved everything in Cricket and are immune to criticism simply because they've been successful in the past, particularly Dhoni. Sehwag is another one that has to go, he does nothing for 9 out of 10 games and then gets a big score in the 10th match to boost his average and then we all celebrate that Viru's back in form. We lack batsmen who are able to stay at the crease for several hours and grind, which is very important in Test Cricket, perhaps IPL has a role to play in that, I'm not sure. I think culturally we are just satisfied too easily and favor mediocrity. But then again, when we have morons who argue that referrals shouldn't be used simply because they are not flawless even though they improve the odds of getting the right decision running our board, how can we expect any better? I love how Srinivasan justified our drubbing last year at the hands of Aus and Eng by claiming those teams wouldn't be able to beat us in India. Wonder what excuses he has up his sleeves now.

India was never an elite test team - the mid 2000s was an aberration. We are back to our old self. Even then we needed a gora coach to excel; now not even gora can help us. Nothing to see here, just move on. Don't expect great performance from mediocrity.

Actually this is not Gavaskar THE INDIAN speaking! More like Gavaskar THE EGOIST, ARROGANT speaking. He and Ravi are forced to eat their word's. Gavaskar has ruined team India's relations with others. He is still holding to grudge from his playing days and he wanted to settle score via team India/BCCI platform. Guys like them are reason why other's dislike us. Gavaskar THE COMMENTATOR has failed to separate politics, personal grudges, cricketing views. What come's out from his mouth is Khichdi of sorts, that's when he sounds very authoritative. If people say KP is arrogant legend, then Gavaskar is in same club.

You are being very optimistic here. My prediction : England to bat and score 620-630 ish kinda total. And then India will fold up under 250 and it will be an innings defeat for India :clap:

Need a serious injection of new blood and fresh thinking in the team. There's no competition in the team nor hunger as the same old always play.

The team looks disintegrated. Players playing for place rather than team result. A change in guard is required. Don't think things will improve with same establishment. Dhoni has to give up test captaincy. Kohli should probably lead test side and Gambhir has to be dropped. It was an awful 50+ he made. Struggled for the most part of it.

On topic yeah SL bowling > Ind bowling. They at least have a go-to bowler like Herath who's bankable on any conditions. We have none. All that hype around Ojha-Ashwin has been busted.
