It was that 1 lost game and in particular our bowling (rain definitely had it's part to play) which led to our ouster. I am quite skeptical of the format of the World T20 anyways. I more convinced now of the damage rain did, after seeing the difference in Ashwin's bowling in other two rain free matches. Ashwin was just forgot how to bowl in the Aus game. We might have lost, but not so heavily. Australia struggled to reach anywhere near that level against SA and Pak whilst chasing. And Watson was given umpteen life lines vs SA by umpire, fielders, and dopey Parnell.

He is making a comeback after years, has been given the ball to defend 14 (even if India are out of the cup, the match was still to be won), has got smashed for a SIX, got a wicket in the next ball, again been smashed for a SIX by a No.11 batsman and has managed to slip in a yorker in the penultimate ball of the match to get the wicket. Natural reaction for any sportsman! the fault is not his. It is the one who actuallt selected balaji in the final 11 and chika who did his south indian colleague a favour by selecting him in the team

Granted our bowling sucked, but that 15 minute rain totally changed the game in Australia's favour. There was a good reason why the Aussies took so long to finish off the 1st innings...

There was a good reason why the Aussies took so long to finish off the 1st innings...[/quote'] if there was rain u bowl ur swing bowler.Instead bowled in 10th over.thats basic stuff also if he felt so strongly that bowlers couldnt hv done anything in the rain,then why did he drop both Bhajji n Chawla in next game??I think hes just doing lip service also no words on batsmen?I though bowlers did thier job in the tourney,its the batsmen led by Captain tuk tuk

There are a lot things which happened behind close doors which we are not privy too. For example, DYK that the Indian team skipped it's breakfast and almost lunch as well during the WC Semi Final against Pakistan? Well no - because we are not just privy to these things and do not get reported in mainstream media. Bhajji did well against England or SA B on the same pitch.surely he'd done the same with Saffies let me also quote what Ganguly said about Bhajji's exclusion 'fast bowler on these wickets will take wickets like Balaji but will also go for runs.spinner can not only take wickets buy choke runs as well which helps build pressure.' also Ashwin wasnt bowling that fast but still turning it big Ganguly has always been a Harbhajan Singh fan. My point was that bringing in Harbhajan does not have a higher probabilistic guarantee of success. Also, note that Balaji was the ONLY right arm seamer in the attack and hence, was a variation. Dhoni is an instinctive captain and he does what comes to him on instinct. I have captained a side during my playing days and I can understand where he comes from. IFs and BUTs surely but it's not a crystal ball as people are putting it around here. The premise for playing Harbhajan citing previous matches and other spinners is a flaky argument as he does not fit the type of spinners you are talking about PERIOD. Outside that scope, all discussions/points can go both ways as we are no longer horses for courses.

Raina' date= Rohit were already accustomed to SL conditions thanks to the recently concluded tour of SL. Uthappa looks ideal to play in the side for me. I am not convinced on his skills but he looks one most likely to succeed. thats what I m saying its Yuvraj who needed practice not Rohit,still Rohit batted ahead of him

Short boundaries, flatter tracks make you look good in Chennai Sambhar Kings or Mumbai Idiot colors but they will not happen in T20. We are hard wired for the IPL and unless those conditions are not repeated in the World T20, we will fail. See how the IPL teams (Indian players in particular) perform in CLT20 and that should give you enough idea. Seeing some of the scores in the current ongoing Challenger Trophy and one can only :facepalm:. Something fundamentally very wrong with first class level.

More importantly, no length mattered as the track became like the ones you get on Adelaide (without exaggerated bounce) and Watson/Warner took a liking to it. It also rained for more than 20 minutes. 18th over Indian batting innings + mid innings break + 1 over Australian innings. That's a lot.

I had a chance to attend Anil Kumble's speech and he said the reason why Virat Kohli has improved because he had to work that extra hard to match and maintain the levels of Laxman, Dravid and Tendulkar. He wouldn't have even got a look into the Test team otherwise! Come to think of it, it makes sense- after all you are a product of your environment.

The opposition has only 120 balls and batsmen can consume important deliveries trying to figure out a bowler's style. Pakistan with their constant chopping and changing (by their fortune or misfortune) always have some bowler that is new.In this case,it is Raza(?).Sure,he'll be whacked around in future editions but for now,batsmen are still trying to figure him out.WI have Narine.Oz have Starc. We won in 2007 because most of our our batsmen and bowlers were new and as yet the opposition had not seen most of them.

Because he bowls slow batsmen have time to line him up or play with the spin. It is OK in a Test match when you have time to work out a batsman - not so in T20s.
