Seriously why blame IPL?

Never understood the logic in blaming IPL. Remember our test ranking #1 and world cup win were both during the same time. Tactically speaking, IPL has really revolutionized cricket. The fielding has gone up. The thinking has also been better such as now 8 runs per over is not a difficult task. Teams have become more tactically astute. New playing shots are in the game and all in all, brought something new to the tactically front. Our Indian players get the experience of playing with overseas players and even some great players. Their own confidence goes up and they learn a lot of about adaptability and handling game pressure. Why is it though that IPL must produce quality Indian players instantly? Even Ranji trophies does not carry that idea. Instead IPL is increasing the squad depth of the indian team with more better players available and we certainly have more options around with IPL than without it. It really confuses me that when an Indian hate an Indian product. But when someone else has the similar product, some are then jealous and envy it.

There lies the problem. It is a product. India won T20 before IPL. After IPl India got pounded in world T20 competition. It is a T20 competition. How exactly will it increases squad depth. Apart from world T20 teams don't play many T20 games. It is just a commercial extravaganza.

When the whole cricketing world is jealous and envy of IPL, here we are with some Indians talking about how they hate it. But nothing surprises me as this has always been part of our history in neglecting our own work. Your argument is more about 20/20 format, and that's a whole lot different. IPL is here to stay and I am definitely fail to see any harm with that.

IPL and T20 is only 4 years old in India. You can't expect results being replicated to national level (T20) so soon. If it sustains it's appeal for another 6-8 years, I think we will see some vastly superior limited over specialists from India. These are today's 10-12 year old kids setting on a path to become millionaires (crorepatis) by fine tuning their skills and body to play IPL. They will dominate T20 cricket, but not sure about ODIs and Tests.

Are you new on this forum? No. You had joined in back in 2009. Anyway, we had a long discussion on this topic 2 years back and many points were put forward. If you haven't read that thread, I'll give the link to you here. If you have answers to points given against the league, you may very well write them in that thread. Is IPL hurting Indian cricket?

The month of April, pre IPL was usaed by the players to rest and recover from injuries. Now...nor do the players rest or fully recover from injuries. Many actually continue to play with injuries in the IPL but are ready to skip international matches for the same injury. I wouldn't mind the IPL if the players and the board put international cricket ahead of the IPL.

Not gonna happen. T20 is a power game and power game is not our strength.
That is where Yuvraj contribution masked lot of our T20 issues. Avge of 31 at an SR of 151 was immense. Only Viru has better than that strike rate from India. If you are going to count only test playing nations Yuvi has strike rate of 155. Even with Yuvi we sucked big time. Now that he is not going to play much for us, India is going to be humiliated in the next T20.

Strategy of purists is to blame IPL when we fail in internationals and when we succeed claim it is despite the IPL.
The best answer really.

I hate IPL,because whenever we play an important tournament like world cup or CT immediately after IPLwe had gone out in the first round with a very poor show, half of the injured players, lethargic and disinterested. We won wc'11,only because IPL happened after that....

I don't think we succeeded much in T20 at the international level after IPL. So there is no chance of saying "Despite IPL". If this 0-8 had happened like 20 years back reaction would have been far severe. Now we officially suck in Tests, ODIs and T20s. But we win in IPl thanks to guys like Kevin Pietersen, fauf Du plessis, Morne Morkel etc.

Both for you are an amateur as you believe that IPL is the base for any team's performance. I really think Yoda answered this question the best and it is no coincidence that when we performing well' date= this topic remains quiet but any loss, suddenly folks like you come to give your shall I care "insightful" opinion.http://www.espncricinfo.com/wt202009/content/story/409174.html
When did that happen in T20 since IPL? Explain the shellacking we received in the last world T20s.

You are assuming people only correlate IPL with T20s. Brilliant minds on this board have linked it any format where we fail to deliver. Cause we pay guys like Uthappa millions in IPL, guys like Sehwag and Gambhir and even veterans like SRT and RD decided to lay bricks in test cricket. That's how it goes.
