riya Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 Both for you are an amateur as you believe that IPL is the base for any team's performance. I really think Yoda answered this question the best and it is no coincidence that when we performing well' date=' this topic remains quiet but any loss, suddenly folks like you come to give your shall I care "insightful" opinion.[/quote'] Thanks i shall remain amateur rather than watch and appreciate IPL..:icflove:
riya Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 So you need maturity to understand the "value" of IPL. :cantstop: What a load of crap. IPL as a "product" is successful. Will stay here for a while. There are 3 or 4 million viewers for Kim Kadrashaian show also. A stupid show like that have sustained for 6 seasons. Why not IPL. It will run for some more time. But don't sell me that IPL is the greatest thing after a slice of bread that will help Indian cricket achieving great heights. I know what it is. I know what it brings to Indian cricket and what it doesn't. :haha::haha::haha::haha:
someone Posted April 24, 2012 Author Posted April 24, 2012 All your point is "money" "money" nothing else. You are the one who labelled it as "product" not a competition not me. You do realize cricket itself is a product. Stop arguing about this simple word.

saket123 Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 "The thinking has also been better such as now 8 runs per over is not a difficult task." yes 8 runs per over in 12-20 overs has become extremely easy.. however 3 or 4 runs per over, over the period of 120+ overs has become an extremely difficult task... which is what IPL has done to our players.

Really? Then let's just close all T20, ODIs, lets change all the domestic matches formats. As only test cricket is the real "cricket". I guess you just starting watching cricket now as clearly different formats of the game has existed since long time. And you must be very thick if you believe T20 is the cause of test cricket. As well, you must have forgetten or do not know that even with T20, we were the No.1 side 1 year ago. Moreover, you are talking about against T20 not IPL.

A myth. IPL has not changed Laxman,Dravid etc. In fact the guys who did decently in Oz (Kohli,Yadav) are the young guns.

Even T20 tournaments don't last anywhere as much as IPL is dragged out to such over-kill lengths... and the Indian national team is scattered across all teams in the IPL.. the more high-octane IPL matches they play (and they have very good reason financially to do so).. the more they are prone to injuries and the more is their mindset nestled into the quick format way of cricket. Regarding how IPL is affecting Test Cricket.. case in point is when Dhoni even hinted that Test Cricket is simply not something they are much interested in.
saket123 Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 A myth. IPL has not changed Laxman,Dravid etc. In fact the guys who did decently in Oz (Kohli,Yadav) are the young guns. Yea I beg to differ. The last 8 or so Test matches and neither Laxman nor Dravid have really performed. Credit definitely goes to Kohli in the ODIs.. but not so much in Test yet.. and Yadav is still a nobody. The old test cricketing temperament of Dravid, tendulkar and others is simply not seen anymore... even among these very players.. and much less so in the youngsters. Afridi was the first to say He doesn't want to play Test cricket because of how slow it was.. just wait and watch how many of our own are gonna follow suit. it is a matter of simple deductions. We are doing somewhat OK in T20.. and modestly good in ODIs.. and extremely well in IPL.. and extremely poor in Test.. all with the same players in circulation. So you don't have to be a rocket scientist to deduce where their energies are being focused. Should they be allowed to play IPL? Absolutely!!.. I support any kind of free enterprise and freedom to choose. But is that affecting Test Cricket? Absolutely! When you are given a ferrari and asked to take part in a NASCAR competition for over a month where the faster you are the better chances for you to win.. with multi-million dollar rewards.. .. .. and then asked to take part in a Slow Cycling race where you need balance, temperament and above all just enough speed.. the reward is that you'll have enough money to buy an Ambassador car.. .. ..... how do you think you are gonna feel??.. Where do you think your mind is gonna gravitate to? How is your body mentally and physically, gonna react to the change of pace and adrenaline and the reward? It is just Human Nature. IPL is like that cheap David Dhawan commericial movie that is super-hit across the board and makes plenty of money for everybody.. .. and now the same characters of the cheap movie are not interested in making art movies anymore.

You are simply contradicting yourself. First you say it is IPL, then you use the other T20 examples. You clearly are confused with your own thoughts. Over kill lengths is only your own opinion, if you think it is long, you simply do not watch it. But many others enjoy it which includes majority of the fans and the players themselves. And injuries caused by IPL? What next, please ban ranji matches and domestic as clearly those matches also made players injured. And mindset changing to quick format? Really, let's ban everything other than test cricket, isn't that what you want. Different formats have existed in the past and there is no reason why different formats cannot exist presently and in future. And maybe I can have a larger case of saying that our mindset has changed to slow format given the huge number of test matches we have played over the recent years. Maybe I should start saying ban test cricket as it has caused the injuries and made the mindset into the slower form of the game.

You are probably weak in reading comprehension.. because I certainly have not contradicted my self. I am clearly saying that IPL because of it's duration to drag out for long times and because most of the national side players being involved.. test, one day and T20 players.. .. is more of a fertile ground for players to get injured and depleted. .. and further reinforces the attitude of short format games. India hardly goes around playing T20 international tournaments.. We either play 1 or 2 T20 games in between Tests and ODI during a series.. or it's the T20 world cup. That is perfect as far as the amount of short formats we should be playing. But IPL is an additional heavy baggage of short form cricket that puts undue stress on our players. There are tons of examples about this.. Sehawag, Gambhir, ZaK.. all missing out of important international tournaments because of injuries sustained in IPL.

Banning IPL is very much a viable option. You cannot possibly compare the importance of IPL and Test Cricket viz-a-vis India's Cricketing status.

You cannot possibly compare the importance of IPL and Test Cricket viz-a-vis India's Cricketing status. Neither is an option. What is an option is to reduce the number of internationals (bilateral ODIs mainly, IMO) and to reduce the number of IPL games (like having 2 divisions and play cross division just once), so they can co-exist without player burnouts.

International Cricket is about ICC tournaments.. not about domestic tourneys... and no matter how many times I repeat you are not reading... the duration of a prolific domestic tournament such as IPL is costing time and fitness of the players.. .. It is a very simple theory, but you are being obtuse.

It was more about your lame points about IPL which can be applied to every other type of cricket. Yet, for you, it is only IPL which is the evil thing. You simply do not want to face the real facts and have totally ignored or not replied at all to many of the points in this thread.

It really confuses me that when an Indian hate an Indian product. and the reason why I for example, hate IPL is because of what it is done to the game of Indian International Cricket as a whole.. .. and thus my posts have explained.. in detail.. why I don't support IPL. So you see, you are the one that is confused. I am actually addressing your topic.. but like I said.. you are too obtuse because you didn't open this thread to invite answers for your original question.. but simply to ram through your unconditional love for IPL. If that is the case.. then yea, we get it!..
