Came back from a screening of The Dark Knight Rises, here are my first impressions: 1. Definitely more darker/complex than the predecessors. 2. Bane is not as good as a villain as the Joker; Doesn't get nearly anywhere enough screen time. 3. A satisfactory ending but some elements could be tied in more cohesively. You probably have to watch the movie at least two - three times to understand/appreciate all the plot nuances.

Bloody brilliant, finally caught it last night in IMAX SPOILER ALERTS- One plot hole ...How if that Batwing aircraft thingy was neutralised in the Nuke blast over the ocean, did Lucius Foz and his techs get their hands on it and were studying the autopilot function- yes there could have been more but that would mean Bane getting his hands on them as he did all the other bat weapons...also they totally ignored that leg brace Bruce had on after he strapped it on...when he was climbing out of that pit especially Great twist with Tania Al Ghul popping up, Bane was epic - i thought he got a good deal of screen time, not to mention some good dialogues....though as Sree says not as great as the Joker. TDK was a better film than TDKR because of the Joker and because of the greater amount of batman badassery- the sequence where he takes out two whole SWAT teams in TDK prior to the final fight with the Joker is just awesome and the truck flipping scene in that film is among the best few minutes in the whole trilogy....TDKR almost had more of Bruce Wayne than Batman, not that was a problem as Bale was excellent. some scenes, in particular where he parts with Alfred were brilliantly acted. Micheal Caine was excellent, possibly the best actor in the film he barely got any screen time but was so good in what little he got, he should have been in this film a lot more...just dissapeared which was oddd I like how they roped in that 'Backbreaking' scene from the Knightfall comics series, that first fight with Bane had me looking through my fingers I was almost crying for Batman then and in the end when it looked like he was gone. I had a major Batgasm when it was revealed that Detective Blake was called 'Robin'...I wish they had done that in a slightly more sophisticated way, perhaps revealing that he was called Dick Grayson instead...or even naming him Grayson instead of John Blake- thought that would have meant his 'rising' to become Robin/next Batman would be no surprise. Hathaway as Catwoman was good but did not do a huge amount in the middle portion of the film before popping up again until the end. Loved the happy ending, I agree that it needs more than one watch, its complex. It had almost too many characters and tried to do a bit too much..minor flaws though, what an epic film trilogy..

If he managed to get out of there and managed to walk or hitchhike all the way, how did he enter into Gatham city that had been cut off from the outside world and was under constant surveillance? 2. If he managed to get in to Gotham city in time, did he have nothing better to do in that moment of crisis, with a nuclear bomb going off in minutes to a. find and change into his bar suit and b. burn a large bat symbol on the bridge?

They are not exactly plot holes. 1. Didnt the entirety of gothams occupation span months. I might have misheard when it was said that it would take 5 months for the core to become completely unstable? So bale could have taken more than a few hours to get back to gotham. He can get into gotham because he was the goddamn batman. They didnt have to show his every step to make us believe. He had lived a life with nothing for 7 years in batman begins, he entered china in dark knight, getting back into gotham is not a big deal. Besides, the bridge wasnt the only way in or out for him. 2. He did the signal because he is all about symbol and theatrics. That is the underlying reason he became batman. That signal gave hope to others and lifted the cops/peoples spirit.

It did strike me as a surprising that he got back so quickly, but I told myself the same thing- he is the goddamn Batman, and knows the city better than anyone, not so hard to think he would have found a way. The occupation last at least 3 months, I think... there is one snippet I think when Wayne is in the prison that the TV shows the siege being in Day 86- i did not see this but heard about it... so lastted a while. With regards to that signal- I LOVED that bit, made me do a fist pump inches away from my wifes face. Also made that previously cowardly police chief lead his men out against Banes and die a martyr... so it was to uplift the people and it worked. He needed the suit obviously because of the protection it gives, and again the symbolism... so important in the movie... One thing that bugs me is the number of people who know he is Wayne now... it do-sent matter as it is the last part. All Banes henchmen how watched batman get battered for instance...and Its amazing how Gordon recalled what he told a little boy Wayne like 30 years before...thats a bit nitpicky, but the way Blake amazingly found out Wayne was Batman was not explained so well...i mean- from looking in his eyes??!

Here is the disclaimer Sooda, I am not big on superhero movies. Back to Dark Knight what really was fascinating about the movie? It is the rehash of same old same old Batman stuff. A villain wanting to destroy Gotham City and creating a rebellion using prisoners and other anti-social elements. That is oversimplifying but you get the picture. What did I miss ?

Loved the movie, I thought they should have ended the movie when Alfred nods towards the camera, instead of actually showing Bruce and Selina, would've given it an Inception type feel

Ah man, yeah majorly oversimplifying... Its like saying Sholay is about two dudes who defend a village against some baddies- no big deal... and you dont need to be into superhero movies for Batman, its quite gritty and real and does not require suspension of belief like the Avengers does...anyway Im not sure Ill convince you but it was an awesome experience

Let me clarify that just because I am pointing out what I think are plot holes, does not mean that I did not like the movie. I loved it. Holes can be drilled into any movie.
