Our two rare series wins (Eng and WI) during Dravid's captaincy were gutless efforts. :P Maybe he needed to dance in the stadium to show that he was serious about winning outside India. IPLsucks claimed that Ganguly was only captain who was serious about winning outside India. It does not matter if he lost the series badly. Atleast he took serious steps to win abroad and they showed some fight and resisted the opposition. It was a process, Ganguly was the first one to started it. Our beloved captain Dhoni ended it.

how did it ended in comparison ? dravid was tbh pretty underrated captain good thinker of game so was good in tests yes people call him spineless but every person has his way of working moreover ganguly wasnt overrated i honestly beilive in this..now a days i see our team touring i dont mind losing but attitude of these guys is jsut :facepalm: with ganguly tht wasnt the case thats wht people respect...do u think ashwin owuld ve ever said u win some lose some after 2 whitewashed if he played under ganguly ok thts one side ganguly too had many flaws but after u retire people tend to remember only good parts :P thats how world works but right now wht ganguly is doing playing here in ipl is surely hurting his reputation he has lsot his mind

He brought in Uthappam, his state player as an opener and failed to gave any start whatsoever and Dravid broke so many hearts by losing the world cup so badly. The best cricket India ever played in my opinion was in 2003 world cup when Dada got so many young players and gave them confidence unlike Dravid who behaved like a henchman to Greg chappell and sent Tendulkar 3 down and ruined his form. Come on yaar, Dravid had not guts whatsoever to take on the world as a captain. Dada was just a Gangsta. Everyone knows that.

He played politics, walked out citing a fake injury on the morning of a very important Test match (in my books, I can never forgive him for that as much a great fan I was of him), faked injuries, lobbied on for wrong players and then threw tantrums which led to his ouster from the captaincy. So, it evens out at the end of the day. Dravid was a pushover - not gutless but a pushover but he was an amazing tactician. I will remember him as an astute observer of the game, a great tactician & getting the results when it mattered. I will also remember him for not walking around obstacles (yes as a captain) but through it during captaincy. After the horrible WC campaign, he led the side to a Test series win in England after 21 years which is a great achievement no matter what ordinary people say. So, if you tell me you are under rating Dravid ; I will tell you are over rating Ganguly. Balance is what the world requires and lets keep it at that.

i agree with dravid parts completely he was very underated he had huge knowledge of game and made good tactics and never made those dumb decisions or foolish team selections specially in tests also he attacked and defended perfectly he wasnt really a defensive captain tbh from wht i saw

India won despite a weak link in the middle order who goes by the name Ganguly. In his 5 years as skipper he averaged 36 in Tests - where VVS, RD and SRT all went over 50 in that span. His average as skipper is so good that even MSD and Vettori have bettered him in average in their tenure as Test captains. Also the lazy bum got so bad that GC kicked him out the minute he landed as the coach in 2005 despite Ganguly recommending him for the job. Now imagine that!!!!!

Ganguly backed right players and in that part he played politics. You don't have to be a saint to do everything right. Selection process was effed up when he took over and it was him who openly criticised selectors at times for selecting wrong players , that was politically wrong but much needed for Indian Cricket.

In england, we were strgulling to pick 11 players in the team leave out having a winning combination. We had jokers like Sreesanth and Ishant who can't pick a freaking wicket in those conditions. And in batting only Dravid scored and Sachin was playing recklessly. But, MS did fail as a captain in Oz.We had them under the mat on so many occasaions but again team is failing collectively. I don;t know whether everything should be attributed to 1 person or not. But, he has also managaed the same team. Our bowling attack in SL was piss poor yet we did not lose that series. Again in SA,there were some decisions by him which were pretty good specially in the durban test. He also batted with a lot of assurance in that series.It's his defensive mindset which cost us that series though. But, as a tactician, I feel Dravid was the best.
