Swing_n_Speed Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 The sucker made his dough... idiots those who bought the IPO He made his dough a long time ago. The minute venture capitalists came in and started buying up stake. Way back in 2007 Microsoft paid 240mill for a 1.6% stake. This IPO was for the venture capitalists to make their cut.
Crookbond Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 The stockmarket has lost no time in unfriending the social network http://www.economist.com/node/21559947 New shareholders are not the only ones feeling fed up. On July 30th Limited Run, a New York platform for the online shops of record labels, artists and designers, said it would delete its Facebook page. It estimated that 80% of clicks came from ÅÃotsÇ÷computers rather than people, but triggering payments to Facebook all the same. Limited Run added that after it changed its name (from Limited Pressing) Facebook asked it to spend $2,000 a month on advertising to change the name of its page on the network to match. Calling Facebook ÅÔcumbags? it invited its human visitors to follow it on Twitter instead.
Crookbond Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 Facebook is worth $15 per share http://online.barrons.com/article/SB50001424053111904706204578002652028814658.html Facebook Wants You To Snitch On your Friends for Not Using Their Actual Name http://paulbernal.wordpress.com/2012/09/21/facebook-snitchgate/
Jersey #10 Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 I just bought a little bit at 21.90. Wish me luck! I can't challenge your predictions :cantstop: but I think you bought them too early in the game. I think the right price is around 15. I almost bought some at 17.8. Made a mistake by not buying them at the time. Would have made 5$ per share in couple of weeks :((
ganeshran Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 This just goes on to show how important constant revenue flow is to a company, even though it has 600 million users. Unless FB is properly able to monetize using ads, it will remain in the 18-23 level.
Sachin=GOD Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 This just goes on to show how important constant revenue flow is to a company' date=' even though it has 600 million users. Today there's FB, tomorrow some new website will come and suddenly FB will become like Orkut.
Crookbond Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 The ad based models is difficult to materialize on a social network.
Swing_n_Speed Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 Once again the biggest losers in the FB IPO will be the investors, who have invested rather foolishly, at inflated prices. The Venture Capitalists on the other hand are probably rolling in cash now. The Google IPO was the best. Absolutely love that company.
neeleshagarwal Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 new investors watch out share trend is too fluctuating towards downward
neeleshagarwal Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 too much hype went in at the IPO of FB
ganeshran Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 I think it will go down further. Today there's FB' date=' tomorrow some new website will come and suddenly FB will become like Orkut.[/quote'] FB is still the undisputed leader in social networking. No website can beat it at its game - the competitor would have to do something radically different to beat Facebook. The problem is that while FB is the leader, it still hasnt figured out the best way to make money out of it. They have tons of personal information about users which they can use for targeted ads but the advertisers have stayed away so far.
Crookbond Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 Facebook’s Gen Y Nightmare http://www.mondaynote.com/2012/09/23/facebooks-gen-y-nightmare/ “Tina Porter, 26. She’s what you need for the transpacific trade issues you just mentioned, Alan. Her dissertation speaks for itself, she even learned Korean…” He pauses. “But?…” Asks the HR guy. “She’s afflicted with acute migraine. It occurs at least a couple of times a month. She’s good at concealing it, but our data shows it could be a problem”, Chen said. “How the hell do you know that?” “Well, she falls into this particular Health Cluster. In her Facebook babbling, she sometimes refers to a spike in her olfactory sensitivity — a known precursor to a migraine crisis. In addition, each time, for a period of several days, we see a slight drop in the number of words she uses in her posts, her vocabulary shrinks a bit, and her tweets, usually sharp, become less frequent and more nebulous. That’s an obvious pattern for people suffering from serious migraine. In addition, the Zeo Sleeping Manager website and the stress management site HeartMath — both now connected with Facebook – suggest she suffers from insomnia. In other words, Alan, we think you can’t take Ms Porter in the firm. Our Predictive Workforce Expenditure Model shows that she will cost you at least 15% more in lost productivity. Not to mention the patterns in her Facebook entries suggesting a 75% chance for her to become pregnant in the next 18 months, again according to our models.” “Not exactly a disease from what I know. But OK, let’s move on”.
Crookbond Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Facebook vs. Google: It's on! (Again) In fact, the notion that search was dying and that the future of the web lay in social networks is itself starting to look outdated. Yes, people may spend many more hours on a social network than in a search box, but they also spend much less time bothering to click ads. We go to social networks to find people. We go to search boxes to find answers. So search ads -- despite warnings of the demise of search -- have continued to do very well. http://tech.fortune.cnn.com/2012/09/24/facebook-vs-google-its-on-again/
Crookbond Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Facebook's Next Fight: Suits, and More Suits About 50 lawsuits have been filed against Facebook, Nasdaq OMX Group Inc. NDAQ -2.32% and underwriters of Facebook's May IPO, according to lawyers involved in the cases. In addition, securities lawyers who represent Facebook investors say they expect hundreds of arbitration claims to be launched against brokers and securities firms that pitched the company's shares. The bulk of the cases against Facebook and underwriters led by Morgan Stanley MS -2.58% allege that investors weren't told clearly enough in disclosures that the social-networking firm's growth was suffering from a migration in customers to mobile devices from desktop computers. Some analysts are concerned about Facebook's advertising model for mobile devices. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10000872396390444083304578018761378016032.html
