Guha's comments are indicator of how the arguments so slowly diluting against Modi. From the guy responsible for slaughtering his people to a guy who who did not show remorse to a guy who did not come to the airport to receive Muslim cricketers. What Irfan and Yusuf Pathan think of him is already on record .

Problem with many of us is when we like or dislike a person and then start judging him/her and try to find positives/negatives to substantiate our bias. What one must do is exactly what would you have done if you were in his/her place. No wonder Guha uses all his intellectual capacity and psychoanalysis to find fault in Modi to justify his initial standing of Modi being non-re-conciliatory. Also it is baseless to think one cannot change over time. If we look at our own life, we change , out thinking will change over time.

Quoting wikileaks(for whatever they are worth) on Modi 84043: Modi sets his eyes on national politics - The Hindu

1. Modi's Leadership Style ----------------------- 14. © Views remain divided on whether Modi's leadership style will help or harm him if he enters national politics. In public appearances, Modi can be charming and likeable. By all accounts, however, he is an insular, distrustful person who rules with a small group of advisors. This inner circle acts as a buffer between the Chief Minister and his cabinet and party. He reigns more by fear and intimidation than by inclusiveness and consensus, and is rude, condescending and often derogatory to even high level party officials. He hoards power and often leaves his ministers in the cold when making decisions that affect their portfolios. His abrasive leadership style alienated much of the state BJP leadership in 2005. He was able to quell their subsequent rebellion by branding them as corrupt opportunists who were angry because he denied them the tools of political patronage and corruption (ref C). Modi maintains the support of most MLAs in the state because they understand his popularity with voters. His leadership style has created many enemies within the state party. 2. " He has successfully cultivated the image of a clean politician who has reduced corruption in public life in Gujarat. Views differ on how clean and non-corrupt Modi actually is, however Most contacts also say that he has purged the state administration of petty corruption at the mid- and lower levels of the bureaucracy. However, several people tell us that big ticket corruption is still common. Journalist Javed Rahmatullah claimed that Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL) paid a large bribe for permission to expand its refinery in Jamnagar. The money went into the BJP's party coffers, Rahmatullah claimed, and not to Modi or any other individual. Other contacts have told us that business money flows to the BJP in Gujarat, but nobody had been this specific. We have been unable to verify Rahmatullah's claim. 3. The economic reality of Gujarat, however, may be far more complex than the ebullient statements of Modi's supporters suggest. Although Gujarat tops all Indian states in terms of investment intentions, actual investment is far less, and certainly less than the neighboring state of Maharashtra. Despite the presence of a few well-known international companies, FDI flows into the state are relatively small. Gujarat received less than four percent of the FDI coming into India in the past five years (Note: Delhi and Maharashtra, the top two FDI destinations, got 28 percent and 22 percent respectively. End Note) Ahmedabad does not have the visible construction activity, and increasingly noticeable foreign presence, of Pune in neighboring Maharashtra, for example. Many Gujaratis will say that the state is still not sufficiently known abroad. Some contacts are confident that investment will increase in tandem with growing awareness of Gujarat's business climate spawned by the GOG's aggressive marketing. Other sources were far less sanguine, and argue that the stain of the 2002 riots and the poor human rights record of its leadership continue to deter foreign companies fearful of further communal 4. " After Econoff clarified the purpose of the visit to meet with contacts to assess Gujarat's political, economic, and social environment, Modi seemed surprised that U.S. officials would travel to Gujarat, saying the USG had warned the state is ""unsafe."" Econoff responded by stressing that while the USG has serious concerns about human rights and religious freedom, we do not restrict visitors or opportunities for U.S. companies to invest in Gujarat. Modi also asked what our contacts said about the current state of human rights and religious freedom in Gujarat. Econoff replied that the opinions were mixed.

It is an interesting mexican standoff between AAP, BJP and Congress. AAP is new kid on the block that wants to display these two bullies. It talks big and takes high moral ground and tak about th enew. But then find out that it is not the biggest bully yet. So, chooses to take the help badest ***** in town, in Congress which simply wants to keep its rival out of power. Now, this puts severe question marks on all the talk it did and the so called moral high ground it was taking. So, you have BJP constantly equating AAP with Congress and rightfull so, since they are taking the support of Congress. But you sense BJP is trying to provoke AAP to do something rash. Congress meanwhile is smartly saying that it is following the will of people. Will of people was BJP if you go by th enumbers, but you know where they are coming from. You have AAP, having to do constant U turns, losing credibility every step of the way, saying it never asked for Congress support but still got it ( almost playing victims for being in power ). So, all the three parties poking each other. Interesting to watch. In between al this, an opportunity for genuine change is lost. AAP is not the answer. These chews can't hold their own at best of times. If you are looking for a change, we need some other more sensible new option to come up.

Panaji: The Goa Police have been directed by a trial court to file a First Information Report (FIR) against both the Congress and the BJP state units for illegally accepting Rs.5 crore each from a foreign-registered mining company, Vedanta. Shetye, in his complaint, claimed that Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, ex-BJP state president Laxmikant Parsenkar and current president Vinay Tendulkar and North Goa MP Shripad Naik had received donations from subsidiary companies of the Vedanta Group, including Sesa Goa, to regularise their illegal mining operations in the state.

Gadkari's Purti group has investments from companies that do not seem to exist as addresses given to the Registrar of Companies turned out to be fake. The BJP president is also under fire for having his driver and astrologer listed as major stakeholders in his company. The Income Tax Department conducted inquiries at various places including Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur and Kolkata on October 30 to check on the companies which invested in the Purti group. Sources in the Sangh headquarters in Nagpur claim that RSS wanted to give Gadkari a chance to clear his name of all the charges before taking any action against him. : : "Poster chipkane wale ko laaye the Nagpur se party president banane, woh khud hi poster ban gaya," ridiculed a party leader, referring to the days when a young Gadkari used to stick posters and distribute pamphlets for the RSS in Nagpur.

Hmm! Interesting how AAP fans suddenly have become fans of CBI also. Maybe BJP was not that wrong afterall.
CBI is congress bureau of investigation only when it targets BJP persons. When the same CBI targets the likes of Kalmadi or coalgate or adarsh scams, then congress is corrupt. :winky:
