Nitish's main problem was Modi's growing stature. Now that Modi has officially elevated to a National Role' date=' Nitish is ready to quit. He has worked hard for a long time to build a substantial following among the Muslims and he sees that joining hands with a Modi led BJP would lead to those committed voters going elsewhere so he's not exactly wrong in leaving.[/quote'] Muslims votes were under 9% for JDU according to well-known agencies. He doesn't really have a solid Muslims vote bank. Even more Muslims voted for Modi than Nitesh. He is simply working the power struggle game

Lol' date=' Modi destroying public institution, really?. I know people love comparing Modi with everyone and everything. That's how they learn their rotis.[b'] Sagarika is no different and if you knew more of her opinions, you wouldn't have put that article here This comparison is absurd.
I do know her opinions but whats that got to do with this article? The comparison is not absurd - Modi has slowly but surely eliminated each and every one of his rivals and has now established a kind of one man Govt. in Gujarat. He has a similar hold on the party organization in Gujarat. People like Advani are raising their voice against him because they don't want the party to be built around one man at the national level.

Hindutva’s warrior Hindustan Times New Delhi, June 11, 2013 http://www.hindustantimes.com/editorial-views-on/SagarikaGhose/Hindutva-s-warrior/Article1-1074633.aspx for all those asking why I don't like the idea of Modi as PM - there's of course the issue of the Gujarat riots but more importantly, its the part in bold in this article that bothers me the most about him. Modi is another Indira Gandhi type of leader in the making and Indian doesn't need that.
Please S-G. Not Sagarika.

they already are, BJP only has 4 Chief Ministers out of possible 30 and merely 116 MPs in Lok Sabha out of 543

Well, that's very ridiculous. Firstly Advani is not raising the voice against Modi and then Advani himself wants the party around him, like the last 10 years of failed approach. Modi on the other hand has the consensus. Unlike UPA, he doesn't deny competition and if you think because of his tremendous success in Gujarat he doesn't deserve the right to challenge for central position, then you are very wrong.

Back on Modi's issue, there should be only one objective. That objective is to have a higher voter turnout. The more there are voters, the more better, it is for BJP increases Congress suffers. The Muslims vote bank and appeasement polices will become less relevant when more people turn out to vote. And that's what the fundamental objective is for them. And Modi is the perfect catalyst and people want to vote with Modi involved. People who never voted in elections are now determined to vote in 2014. People who never took elections properly and did not know the power their voting rights now very well understand their importance and that's is the biggest headache for UPA and those so called secular parties.

officially they are union territories. a lot of power exists with union government in the functioning of these places. Ex: Delhi home affairs falls directly under Union Home Minister but i admit i was wrong :embarassed:

you mean the fact that JDU is leaving and that other parties like BJP have said that they won't accept him :winky: There are other leaders who have done a better job. When Modi took over Gujarat, it wasn't a poor state whereas CM's like Shivraj Chauhan, Dr. Raman Singh etc took over states which were in far worse conditions and have turned them around. Sure, Modi has done a great job but I do not want his style of one-man Govt. at the National Level.

yes yes lets be stuck with a consensus candidate whose sole job is to please allies. Look how great Maunmohan Singh is at that job. Shivraj will be perfect for that role

Modi is elected on consensus, so if you have a problem with that, deal with it. JDU is not looking to leave for those well stated reasons but are simply using them as excuses. Their real reality has been known for long time so it's not surprising. Also, JDU themselves are undergoing bigger internal conflicts as several MLA are looking to leave. And,you are back to that comparative approach. Modi has done a good job, so why cannot you accept that wholly ? You purposefully or unintentionally have set a higher benchmark for Modi while the rest on that lower level, and then you expect to have a fair debate? really?

Sir, you are confused between a leader and dictatorship. Perhaps being in MMS rule's for the last 10 years, has caused that disorientation. India at this time, needs a leader and Modi is one of few who offers that leadership skills
