Here's a simple question for Modi fans - all his fans say that he is an excellent administrator and a great leader. Lets suppose that Modi is completely innocent and had absolutely nothing to do with either the Gujarat Riots or the fake encounters that have happened in Gujarat - the question remains' date=' [b']How exactly is he an excellent administrator or a great leader when such things have happened (and were done by the top police/IAS/IB officers in the state) under his nose and he didn't have a hint about them?
In the eyes of the Gujarati people who vote, he is. I guess there are some people who do not boil down a record of nearly 12 years of governance into one riot and a couple of police encounters, especially given the fact that these things have happened frequently in the past too. Perhaps the general trend in law and order, electricity, infrastructure, jobs, investment etc are also taken into account.

what nonsense why stop at one murderer when so many are roaming free or have had been deceased away with fake honoury so you are only happy if Modi gets prosecuted (for whatever your personal agenda is) and screw justice for victims of other communal riots before and after Gujarat muslim riots. I wish you are not an Indian citizen.
How did you make that deduction from my post? I am happy if Modi gets prosecuted. I would be happier if Tytler gets his comeuppance. I would be even more happy if Sajjan Kumar also goes to jail. I would be the happiest if every single person involved in any riot goes to jail. Just because justice has not been served in past cases does not mean that justice should not be served for future cases as well and bringing in the lack of justice of other riots everytime the Gujarat riots are being talked about adds nothing to the discussion.

one riot in which over 1000 people were killed - it may be easy to forget for you but I (and many, many Indians) will not forget this irrespective of the mirage of development shown by Modi. You talk of law and order - I ask you, where the hell was this so called "excellent" law and order machinery and where was this "brilliant" administrator Modi when thousands of people of his state were being killed and his own Ministers were leading mobs of rioters.

Another case of absurd logic. When West Bengal kept electing CPI for 30 years they were idiots, when Bihar kept electing Laloo they were doing it on the basis of caste and religion, when the Indian people keep electing Congress for most of the history it's because of dynasty and religion. But when Gujarat keeps electing Modi, it's because of governance. Can't make this stuff up!

come on what judiciary, this has become a congress funded witch hunt. first congress need to set an example and rid themselves of all tainted by communal violence and other illegal activities, including severing ties with political allies involved in similar acts. the cliché, ''lead by example'' will do wonders for the beleaguered congress party.
show one post in this thread where anyone opposing Modi has said that only Modi should be punished - I (and all others who oppose Modi) have always maintained that all those guilty in various riots should be punished. Now just because others who are guilty have not been punished doesn't mean that you let Modi go or be lenient on him or that media shouldn't scrutinize him.

It is not about me. I was only giving you some reason's why the Gujarati people may be voting for him consistently. Gujarat may not be the whole of India, but it is not separate from India.

Quote me a post where I said that else shut shop and agree that you are pawned on this point. Seedhi gaadi nikli aur Mumbai Chatraprathi Shivaji Station par phass gayi Now, you can't return back so put up a straw man discussion. If people voting for Modi is shown as good will Modi has done, then in the same vein Congress is one of the BEST government in the world currently. Of course - both theories are come from the Lahori School of Economics and hence are BS.

I did not even talk of the CPI or Laloo, ask the one who brought them up. Was talking of my opinion of why people vote for Modi in Gujarat. If you want to believe that people vote for Congress for some reason or the other it is up to you.

Modi has fought the 2007 and 2012 elections on the development agenda. People have voted for him.
All parties talk about development agenda - it is what the modern India wants. The problem with any theory is that it should be generalizable without threats to validity (I'm sure you know that). You postulated that voting patterns of people show that they trust Modi with xyz. In similar vein, your theory extends that people of India trust the Congress party as a whole since they keep voting them in power for the majority of the last 60+ years. That is where the example of CPI etc. were brought in to show that this is not be necessarily true.

Not necessarily. Some parties talk about discrimination on the basis of religion, for example congress talks about reservation for Muslims etc. Laloo Yadav was/is quite clear about his casteist agenda. Similarly, Mayawati openly abused the upper castes.

Yup train burning was spontaneous. What happened after that was all well planned. B-> I am impressed really. I have never supported what happened in Guj but I just cannot turn blind eye to what had happened in Godhra. Some people are trying to make out as if the other side was innocent. Those idiots burnt a train coach full of people. Those barbaric people are ignored in every freaking discussion. Its all about what happened after. No wonder you guys are blamed as PS. A simple logic, to burn a moving target needs much more planning. How dare those idiots burn few innocent people. Why do we expect everyone to keep quiet when such a barbaric incidence takes place. One group decided to burn the people from the other group. The other group turned back and burnt the houses of the first one. Obviously, administration miserably failed in this whole carnage. I will never blame 1 group for this. If it was not for Godhra, the Gujarat incidence would not have happened.
