When is a bowler Right or Left hand Fast ?

care to explain why it does not matter for sheer classification and adulation not to speak of the bragging rights. Per your logic does cricket also matter then ?
bcos bowling at 150 does not gives u extra points.. its just a skill do we say warne is right arm big leg spin and kumble small leg spin ? :P

average speed is a good indicator for example average speed yadav is faster than ishant even though ishant may have a faster effort ball.

yeah but we do adulate warne more dont we, and it also got him more wickets.. similarly both shane bond and bret lee were super fast but we adulate lee more because he is was fastest ever dont we ? fast bowling is good to see, so its fine to want fast bowlers and to adulate them.

an average of 139ks in a session should make that bowler fast still..:winky:

yes but its not bcos of labeling them over television was it ? he bowled fast we saw it.. even if he was jsut called a right arm pace bowler and if there was no distinction between fast and medium phast bowler on tv we would ve done the same btw..i like bond much better then lee :P

even i like Bond better becase we got so llittle of him that it was unfair. But you have to agree that Bret lee was more exciting to watch because of his sheer pace delivery after delivery. and i am positive that if tv did not show bowling speeds we would not be able to tell the diff between 135 and 150.. we would have just loved the inswingers, yorkers, clean bowled etc. a vaas or an akram would have never let a shane bond or lee to take center stage. a poor bowler like akthar who got limelight because he used to bowl a few balls super fast would have never been noticed.. now we dont want that do we, we like oour express quicks..

i liked lee cos of those quick yorkers and bouncers and when he hit the batsman.. when they jumped away now bcos of speed never used to note them much and abt our young quickies if ishant even bowls in 130's and starts getting wickets i would be more then happy btw do u remmeber his spell in perth last time ? which one looked quicker ..tell me honesty 2008 or this year?

hmm good question, this years spell looked quick but ineffective, but 2008 was ofcourse much better. whats are you getting to? probably yeah Ishant is screwing himself trying to bowl too quick. I have a feeling ishant will improve once he comes back, he would probably drop a bit of pace and settle in high 130s to low 140s probabaly.

yes very correct, i find the same dynamics between Gul and Wahab. Wahab being faster on average, Gul having a quicker faster ball.

he looked much quicker to me in 2008 just trying to prove how it isnt jsut pace alone which gives excitement.. well on topic yadav is def right arm fast by current standards ..so is arron atleast in odis but personally to me it does not matter wht bowlers are labeled ...people should ask batsmen weather or bowler is phast or now :--D

another interesting technicality is the ball speed off the hand and felt off the pitch. i think published measures are speed off the hand not off the pitch, so unless we get speed off the pitch we will never know how the batsmen actually felt. case in point is Nannes, sewag always felt he was express, but he was in normal range 145-150probably sewag was refering to off the pitch. We might never know some new technology might come and we might all finally understand that the good bowlers always were quickest off the pitch..who knows.:winky: also interesting to note that you felt sharmas 2008 spell was quicker, he was hitting 152 more often in 2008 but operated around 138, but this time he was hovering around 145 most of the time, with fewer 150+ balls. i thought he gained around 2 ks of speed but was very back of length often and was ineffective. but for me seeing the ball raising as it reaches the keep is exciting, jaffa..ripper that type of balls.. :two_thumbs_up:

im talking abt tests here he never hit 150 in 2008 hardly hit 140 and yes length is one of the factors and those jaffa of good length are almsot unplayable thts why i like to see morkel bowl so much :((

personally nothing better than this spell even though he's a medium pacer tBZMc9ue6mw I like to watch anderson and steyn when they swing the ball late even though they don't really bowl at express pace when they swing it.

oh..those 2 152 deliveries to pointing were in 2008 rite ? no ? anyways i found this interesting article , excerpts from Mr Cric on Ishant. 2012 version http://www.thatscricket.com/news/2012/01/22/ishant-is-an-outstanding-bowler-hussey.html "Ishant, if anything, has picked up little bit in pace from some spell I've faced from him in the past. He regularly touched 150 in a few of the spells in Melbourne. He bowled with real pace, at least early in the series but he bowled without luck. "In the first two Tests, he beat the bat on numerous occasions. But the rub of the green didn't go his way. He has bowled well, may be 50-50 things haven't gone his way. Sometimes such things shape a series," he said another guy capable of those jaffas is his Steven Finn guy, similar build as Morkel a bit slower but effort balls reach 150.
