When is a bowler Right or Left hand Fast ?

When is a bowler called as Right or left Hand Fast instead of Fast Medium of Medium fast. The official description is as below, but i don't see either cricinfo or the TV channels adhering to this strictly. Classification of fast bowlers Type mph km/h Fast 86+ 135+ Fast-Medium 81-85 130-134 Medium-Fast 75-80 120-129 Slow-Medium 57-74 90-119 Slow(Spin) <57 <90 Yadav definitly averages above 140Ks and Aron should be slightly below him, this should make them RF right ?

If a bowler is from ENg, Aus or SA the default is "fast" even though the bowler bowls in 130s. However for sub-continental bowlers, especially Indians, speed doesn't matter and you have likes of Ishant & Umesh bowling in 140s and touching 150 kph are termed as right fast medium.

The standard for a genuine fast bowler is 140K generally and people talk about fast bowler bowling 140+. 145K plus is Fast 135-145K is Fast medium 125-135K is Medium Fast Below 125K is medium These points should not be taken literally. They are not average or consistent speeds, but speeds that a bowler can hit whenever he wants and has hit because not all the time bowlers bowl at their quickest especially in test matches . Yadav and Aaron both hit 145K regularly if not average. Steyn and Morkel, etc are same.

ishant was a 'right arm fast' bowler on cricinfo from 2007/2008 till 2010/2011. then they changed it to 'right arm fast medium' for obvious reasons.

To be honest, it just doesn't matter what you are classified as long as you have a good SR, average and bucket of wickets.
