Hansika Motwani (born 9 August 1991) is an Indian film actress who predominantly appears in Tamil and Telugu cinema, while also appearing in Hindi and Kannada cinema.She made her film debut in Telugu film Desamuduru (2007),after which she starred in several high budget Telugu films like Kantri (2008), Maska (2009) and Billa (2009).In 2011,she started her career in Tamil with the hit film Mappillai (2011),after which she appeared in several critically and commercially successful films like Engeyum Kaadhal (2011), Velayudham (2011) and Oru Kal Oru Kannadi (2012).These accomplishments have thus established her as a leading contemporary actress in Tamil Cinema. I can't speak for all south indian movie industry. I can speak for Tamil industry. In the last 7 or 8 years Kerala born actresses simply dominate Tamil industry like nobody else. I am impressed with Asin because she is the only one who lends her own voice instead of dubbing voice. Rest of the mallu girls have dubbing voice. Desamuduru Despite receiving mixed talk from the public, Desamuduru grossed 12.58 crores[5] and a share of Rs.9.5 crores.[6] worldwide in the first week of its release. The openings stand out as the highest in Arjun's career. The film grossed 29 crores in four weeks.[7] Maska The film collected Rs 2.25 crores on its opening day and Rs.10 crores in its first week in theatres.[1] This film had one of the Biggest openings at that time and the biggest in Ram's career and rocketed him to the big league. Billa Budget 25 crore (US$4.99 million). Box office 24 crore (US$4.79 million). Mapillai The film got a big opening, collecting 82.28 lakh in the opening weekend in Chennai territory itself.[10] While some anaylists have declared it as "average", few others declared it as the "first big summer hit". Eng Kad The film had an average opening and the collections in Chennai were 2.50 crore after 3 weeks. It was declared an 'average' film by the trade pundits. Being a telugu, even though I did not see any of these movies, I heard my friends talk about them and their heroes. Not even once I heard discussion about Hansika Motwani.
