Indians need to grudginly accept

Recommended Posts

It's upto the young batsmen now. If we had this bowling attack in the 90s we would have got some really good results then. But, with SG retiring and RD in bad form, and SRT not being the SRT of 90s, we need the young batsmen to step up. If they can we will inch closer to Aussies in ICC rankings slowly but surely. On the other hand if they don't we will remain one of the good teams, never become a great team.

Without Kumble we may be in real trouble in that department unless Bhajji and Mishra step up.

Bhaji top wicket taker in 2008 ahead of steyn. Seperate myth from facts please
In 2008 Bhajji played in Sydney and Adelaide (and didnt do anything great) but the rest of his games were in India, Sri Lanka and India. Those arent really testing wickets for spinners. I am talking about the performances in England, Australia (bouncy wickets), South Africa, New Zealand, West Indies. On these tracks Kumble has done a good job at taking wickets and keeping it tight. Im just saying now Bhajji and Mishra will have to go to places like Durban, Perth, Wellington, etc and get wickets.

That's true as well but it's something which cannot be improved easily. It takes a really great spinner to have a good away record as well. That's not gonna happen in the near future. We can rely on our pace bowling on away tours, and it will be pace vs pace, so no problems as such.

Every known commentator is saying that Bhajji is not bowling at his best...but he is still getting wickets despite it. Let him get back to good form then see...he is too important a presence in the team to remove. He gives it that edge and strength, especially against the Aussies.

He's also bowled the most overs in 2008, almost 200 more than any other spinner/fast bowler. He also has one of the worst averages for any front line spinner in 2008, and yet he's played in more spinning tracks this year than anyone else. Any time Harbhajan was bowling on the same track with other front line spinners he was outperformed by Murali, Mendis, Kretja, and now Mishra who had a better average, economy, and strike rate even though this was his debut series. Bhajji no doubt is an important part of the test setup for the subcontinent pitches but he's not a great spinner. A good one, but definitely not great.

You are spot on when hayden and hussey were threatening, he looked meek, the fact is Mishra and kretza out performed him in this series is an indication, he has lost the art of flight and beating the batsman in air that is worrying aspect.

For a long time I have been saying. We are a dammn good side!
Oh really? Well as long as we are bumping up old threads/posts, here is just one of several comments you made about Dhoni a few weeks ago:
I am FURIOUS and I mean FURIOUS that an Indian cricketer will opt out of playing in the pinnacle challenge of his game, that is TEST cricket! He is a coward and is out of touch with reality! He will get a back lash from this decision! Many fans will never forget this act of cowardness and treachery! When Afridi announced he was retiring from tests he was mocked mercilessley. I see no difference in Dhonis pathetic move:angry_smile: He should now also be mocked!
:hehe:
