gaurav92 Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Actually, the question is very wrong, there can't be just one favourite of our very own Rafi Saaheb. There will be hundreds of them. Every song would be good because the singer whose voice echo in the song is none other than Rafi Ji. Arguably the best singer ever in the world. I am from the current generation, but when I listen to such gems, I cannot see the same, nor I expect anyone to do same kind of singing. The lyrics were outstanding and so were the voices that backed it up. What a wonderful era it was for India - The 1950s to mid 1980s. The golden era of music. :hail: The magical quartet - Rafi ji, Kishore Da, Mukesh and Manna De Saaheb along with Hemant Da, Mahendra Kapoor ji and Pancham Da formed the backbone of Indian music then. Also the evergreen female voices of Asha Ji and Lata Devi was just fabulous to listen. Talking about the man, well I have close to Hundred favourites of Rafi Saaheb. Heres a list :- Diwana Hua Baadal Taareef karu kya uski Baar baar Dekho Tumne Mujhe Dekha O Haseena Zulfon Waali Jiya Ho Ehsaan tera Hoga Mujhpe Abhi na Jaao Chhod kar Likhe jo khat tujhe Chakke pe Chakka Dil deke dekho Khoya Khoya Chaand Chaudvi ka Chaand Baagon mein bahaar hai Badan pe sitaare lapete hue Yeh reshmi Zulfein Din dhal jaaye Tujhko pukaare mera pyaar nanhe munne bachhe teri muthi mein Teri galiyon mein naa rakhenge kadam. Chahe koi mujhe junglee kahe and many more..... I know there are many I am missing, but you post the rest. Great songs all of them. What a Legend. I wish these legends were immortal physically, although they are still alive in our hearts through their songs and voices :sniffle:

Lurker Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Mohd. Rafi saab is one of our favorite sons of course. Too many songs to pick from. Here is the one that came to mind right away, looks like you picked it too. -xCsG__SsBo For some reason, this song always reminds me of KK's classic - Mere mehboob qayamat hogi, aaj ruswa teri gali mein mohabbat hogi.
ravishingravi Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Tough tough one. The greatest singer ever. Have to mull over it.

Lurker Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Speaking of Mohammed Rafi saab, any idea on whom he is supposed to have modelled his voice? :winky: No googling please...
akshayxyz Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 A few more gems that I can remember :- Suhani Raat Dhal Chuki Patthar Ke Sanam Tujhe Chand Mera Dil Chandni Ho tum Gulabi Aankhen Jo Teri dekhi Kya Hua Tera Wada Maine Poocha Chand Se Yeh Duniya Yeh Mehfil Pukarta Chala Hoon Main Chahoonga Main Tujhe Baharon Phool Barsaao Since I am not going to search myself, here, once again stuff I liked from Md. Rafi.
Lurker Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 K.L.Saigal or Pradeep? Kavi Pradeep? :hmmm: Bahut dinon ke baad jikr suna unka.. Lekin no. Yes Rafi idolized KL Saigal lekin supposedly (mark the word) have modelled his voice on somebody else.
Lurker Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 ^Rob Halford of Judas Priest :giggle: Thank God for small mercies. You could have also suggested Kruspe (Rammstein)
veer Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Hemant kumar? cant be since they were almost the same era...
veer Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Kavi Pradeep? :hmmm: Bahut dinon ke baad jikr suna unka.. . i used to love listening to his 'dekh tere insaan ki haalat' and his other patriotic songs..
jind Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Hailing from Punjab (near Amritsar), Rafi did many Punjabi songs and was very keen to pay his tributes to the Punjabi movies. He would move to Lahore first which was the entertainment capital of Punjab at that time and later to Bombay....though, as a Punjabi, Rafi would always find some time to sing in Punjabi movies. :two_thumbs_up: Jagga [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2Se1IS-Ubc]Jagga By Mohd Rafi - YouTube[/ame] The ever famous tere kanaka di rakhi mundeya (duet) from the movie Do Lachhian [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUgxzcAjJy8]Teri Kanak Di Rakhi Mundia Do Lachhian 1959 Punjabi Mohammed Rafi Shamshad Begum Hansraj Behl - YouTube[/ame]
