CG Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 Sreesanth bowled at around 128kph against England in the tour of England. He bowled the odd good spell but was beyond awful for the rest of the time. He never fails to undo any good work that he does. He took top order wickets in one game but then was taken apart by Stuart Broad later in the innings which handed momentum back to England. He has an awful Test record and we should not ignore that. It isn't just bad, it is awful and steadily getting worse. Unless he is 100% fit and in good form (proven over more than just one FC innings), he should not be in consideration because he can be and is often a liability with the ball. He is talented and I'd be happy to welcome him in, but he should NOT walk straight into the side after a bad injury. 1.He did notbowl at 128k in england.even though he was unfit he would still bowl spells at 135-144 + after bowling 3-4 seasons.yes some spells were 125-130 but when you are made to bowl so much it will happen. 2.He was the reason we won in sa and we were in good position in 2nd test in eng. 3.his test record considering todays averages and indian standard is good.even though he is better than that. 4.yes he should grind it out in dc ,then only be selected if he maintains form and fitness.
CG Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 both dinda and awana are quicker than him:headshake: :giggle: in your dreams.

JaFanatic Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 when did i tell you he is a trundler? yes a few years ago he did cross 145 rarely but the fact is dinda and awana are quicker than him now:--D
Late Cut Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 2w-RaJjumLo :hysterical::hysterical: Thats the mist pathetic tribute to a fast bowler i have ever seen. Its filled with a run out, missed balls and i think one bowled? Pretty sad if thats your highlights reel.:--D Oh,and i love how the "fastest" is Ishant! All in in all, perfect. :hysterical:

NareshK Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 Sreesanth is a test match bowler and a wicket taking one. He should never play in LOIs ever. He has a great seam position and can get the ball to swing but sometimes loses the plot entirely. He has got the talent and much better than some of the prospects whose names get thrown around here a lot. If he does well in FC, he should be back in the reckoning. We are too quick to write off some bowlers based on conditions which are completely unhelpful to them like in India. You could say he didnt do well in England but so did Ishant and the rest of the lineup. The batters failed miserably there and bowlers were always playing catch up and having to defend small totals with defensive fields.
The Outsider Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 Sreesanth was a joke and an embarrassment in England and should not be selected again for India till he can put in a consistent wicket taking season in domestic cricket. Wonder why all these factors which were supposedly against Sreesanth did not stop Praveen Kumar from bowling superbly throughout the tour.

But many people have a bad series/tour. He has had some great test moments. If he gets back to full fitness then serious contender for test team

He has never done well in FC over a prolonged period of time. 2. Praveen did well in England and yet everyone is keen to say he is ****. What does that make Sreesanth?
msb1991 Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 1.He did notbowl at 128k in england.even though he was unfit he would still bowl spells at 135-144 + after bowling 3-4 seasons.yes some spells were 125-130 but when you are made to bowl so much it will happen. His average speeds, via Cricinfo's hawkeye was around 80-81mph. 2.He was the reason we won in sa and we were in good position in 2nd test in eng. He was part of the reason we were in a good position but then he was part of the reason we squandered that good position! He may have helped win the match in South Africa, but he was a liability in the first Test horror show and was abysmal in the first innings in the second Test and the second innings of the third Test. The man can produce match turning spells, but he is liability when he is not doing that. When you have a bowler like that, you look at the overall record and his is poor! 3.his test record considering todays averages and indian standard is good.even though he is better than that. How can he be 'better' than his record. His record is always getting worse as he plays more. By all standards, an average of 37.59 is poor. Yadav averages 32.50 and we consider him a good bowler who will hopefully improve, not the finished product! 4.yes he should grind it out in dc ' date='then only be selected if he maintains form and fitness.[/quote'] What I hold against Sreesanth is that he has never done this in his career. If he lived up to half his talent, he'd have been prolific in the Plate League of Ranji Trophy for Kerala. But he has never done this.

They prepare wickets where the likes of Jadeja and Amit Mishra score double hundreds and triple hundreds and you expect seamers to take truck load of wickets and have average of 25 and under ? The only bowlers who come from this system are bowlers like Praveen Kumar who toil all day and stick to line and length and wait for batsmen to make a mistake. That's how he got his wickets in England and he wasnt penetrative enough to get batsmen out. They are not good enough to win you tests and more helpful as support bowlers and not as the main strike bowlers.

I for exapmple dont wan tumesh yadav anywere near playing a full ranji season. He will be worked in to ground and speeds/intensity will drop. Same with Ishant. Play odd game here and there but please keep away from full circuit.
