Lambs overseas???

I posted this as a reply to Dhondy's article but I thought this will help people understand not every test nation can claim they have done wonderfully well on overseas tours in the last few years. England has had a decent run during this decade as for away series' are concerned. They won away series' against Pakistan, Sri Lanka, South Africa and West Indies. They also drew a test series against India. Ashes series' have always been a tear shed for England in Aussie. You make quite a good point as for bilateral series' with India is concerned. Each time you hear the experts you would be misled to believe India has been on the receiving end often but it ain't the case though. During this decade India has won two series', one at home and one away. England has drawn two series during this decade against India one at home and one away. Now the numbers clearly indicate the dominance of India over England doesn't it? I guess the lambs overseas should actually refer to the likes of West Indies, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, South Africa and to certain extent Pakistan (Pakistan at least has won an away series each against Sri Lanka and NZ during this decade). Yup you would be surprised to see South Africa in the "Lambs abroad" list. The only away series' South Africa has won are against West Indies (2-0), Zimbabwe and Bangladesh. In fact South Africa hasn't even been able to win against England in England. Again NZ's only away series' victories have come against West Indies (1-0), Zimbabwe and Bangladesh. Less said about West Indies the better. They have been marginally better than Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. Pakistan has won a series against NZ and SL during this decade but have failed to win against the lesser of the opponent WI. England thrashed Pakistan 3-0 and the Aussies showed absolutely no mercy beating them 3-0. Meanwhile Sri Lanka hasn't won a test series outside Sri Lanka through out the decade. I would place Pakistan ahead of the likes of South Africa, New Zealand, West Indies and Sri Lanka as for ability to win series' overseas is concerned. If anyone terms India as bad tourers anymore then they have no clue what they are talking about.

IND are no longer a bad overseas team but yeah SA's record is slightly surprising because i clearly remember them having a great series in IND during the Cronje era.

I think that was way back in 99/00 MP. South Africa have lost their last away series' against India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Australia. Meanwhile they have drawn against England and New Zealand during their last visit to England and NZ respectively.

That was also quite possibly the worst team India has put up at home in the last decade. Azhar was dropped for the first test, Tendulkar had announced his decision to quit captaincy before the series and looked completely insipid in everything he did etc. etc. It was still a good achievement by South Africa to win the series though considering how hard India are to beat at home.

How else you could justify Nicky Boje being among the top wicket takers of that series ? :D Azhar scored a century in his last match , but never played again. Any guesses ? That traitor sold India's matches to the highest bidder.

Since 2000 we have won the most test overseas after Aus. We are not lambs but tigers overseas.

bcci should've just chucked the sept aus tour of india, replace it with the pakistan one and then have a test/odi series against nz in nov. it would've been a great warmup to the aussie tour.
