No shackles for new England

Also, England seem to have a historical flaw against spin bowling. Indian batsmen were known for struggling on green decks, but there have been few Test matches where our batsmen fought hard scored big runs and even won Tests on such pitches (Leeds 2002, Jamaica 2006, Perth 2008). Just like we showed a bit improvement against conditions alien to us, England has never really showed any improvement against decent spin bowling. They've had superb batsmen like Gooch who played Marshall, Ambrose, Walsh and Patterson on greentops with ease but struggled against decent spin of Venkapathy Raju on a normal pitch.

For those of you who are confident of India beating England easily check how touch it has been for us in home tests vs two of the weakest test sides, NZ and WI. Even in the series vs Australia one test was won by the last pair and in another one we had to chase 200+. Won't categorize them as easy win at all. Our batting has struggled at home in the last few years and with some more younger batsmen coming in, we will need to bat much better than what we have in the recent past. A lot will depend on Sehwag and Gambhir who have both struggled for test form in the last 18 months. Also underestimate English bowling at your own peril. They have done very well in UAE and SL. And even with slightest of help from the tracks, they will be a huge threat. We will still be the favorites but will need to play at our best to beat the pommies.

England's bowling is better than Indian bowling even for spinner friendly conditions. I think Sehwag would be biggest factor in this Indian batting line-up. He is best player of spin bowling in this team and if he finds the form then India will dominate otherwise it would be always chasing game for India. Cook, Strauss, KP all have done well in these conditions before. England batting would rely on these players.

In spin friendly conditions we will outbowl them asit brings shewag, ojha, ashwin in to the game and leftarm spinners on turning track are very handy and regarding doing well in india k.p averages 40 and cook 43 its lower than their career average and considering indian tracks its nothing to be proud of.

I think we (England) will give you a good game in the tests, I dont think India's spinners are as good as Pakistan spinners. On the other hand though our strength is out pace bowlers and I think they will be pretty ineffective in flat dry tracks. Odi's you'll kick our ass and 20/20 who knows also just to add the lack of DRS will wok heavily in Englands favour against the spinners
We might well be the favorites in the Test series but I don't see us hammering them, 4-0 i.e. Might be a 2-1 or 2-0 win for us. Another 5-0 in the ODIs..would be no surprise.

It was still better than Mumbai where spinners were instructed just to bowl quick, within the stumps and let pitch do the rest. :cantstop:

Yes, The Venues have been decided. Tests are going to be held at Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Kolkata and Nagpur and in that order. Ahmedabad will be a road. Nagpur.. Sure defeat for India .. Our only hope is to beat them in Mumbai and Kolkata.. else we are screwed

bat 2nd in ahmedabad nd lil chance of winning.. nagpur would suit england, this will be their chance kolkata- we`ll win surely mumbai- it has got pace nd zip, england did win the last time we played them here..may suit them but of course all are subjects to change acc.to the curator...mumbai can be a spin heaven in 4-5th day...kolkata nd ahmedabad could also be prepared as rank turners...i think the venues aint too bad, not too good either
