1983-2011 Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 The new BBC calculator can tell you if you are a healthy weight for your height and how you rank against others globally. Using your age, sex, nationality, height and weight, it will come up with a number representing your Body Mass Index or BMI. This is a measure doctors use to gauge obesity. The app plots your BMI and shows how you compare to people from your own and other nations. Calculator http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-18770328

Calculator http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-18770328 bmi is a very faulty method of calculating obesity...it doesnt differentiate between muscle and fat...based on this index...most athletes will be obese.... a much better way is to measure your fat percentage or measure your waist...if your waist is more than half of your height..you are obese...
akshayxyz Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 ^ to add further. For females, the formulae are a bit different. As their fat deposit areas are different from men.
adi B Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 the bmi is massively overrated nd faulty just for example i put federer`s stats- 1.85 metres, 85 kg,27 age(he had the stats when he was 27) nd u get a high bmi, fedex is noway a fatso, but impression shown on bmi would suggest so..its a wrong way to suggest or describe a physic, but fine enough if one is interested in comparing global datas
akshayxyz Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 Try calculating BMI of someone like Ronnie Coleman. And tell me whether he is obese or not - as per BMI

If everyone in the world had the same BMI as you, it would remove 261,632,211 tonnes from the total weight of the world's population
triam Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 BMI is a pretty bad indicator, I am into multiple sports and still compete at the national level in badminton. Used to be a gym rat, I am 59 and 185 pounds, it comes out with me being obese.

If you want to increase intensity/duration - try to switch to low impact cardio. Like elliptical/rowing/cycling.
adi B Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 and why? the more u sweat, the more chance of burning fat..and yeah drinking milk also helps in burning fat, pretty useful eh!!
