vvvslaxman Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 Dhoni wanted a bowler who could take the ball away from the batsman' date=' hence Jadeja lol...Does he consider Chawla to an off spinner cos he bowls so many googlies?[/quote'] He took the ball away ... alright.. albeit from the stadium :hysterical:
bharat297 Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Dhoni wanted a bowler who could take the ball away from the batsmen? Maybe he should get one that can turn the ball first.
moniker Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 self boast from ashwin after being the first indian spinner to trashed around by poms at home' date=' is pathetic.[/quote'] I wonder how his comment qualifies as a "boast". By what I decipher, he seems to mean that even good players like Torres sit out for Chelsea, so its no surprise that a shyte player like Ashwin is asked to sit out. Tilted more towards humility than ego, IMHO.
bharat297 Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 ^ It's probably more to do with the attitude towards missing a game. He's essentially saying, "Oh its ok, everyone misses a game." ... Contrast this to Mitchell Starc who was rested from the 2nd Test vs Sri Lanka. He said he was absolutely shattered to not be playing (even though he was not dropped but just rested). That hunger to go out there and constantly prove yourself doesn't seem to be there. Especially for someone who has struggled recently with the ball.
ToughCookie Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 How is this a self boast?? It means when even great players have to sit out then what is so odd that a carom player like me had to sit out.. this comparison is similar to what Darren Sammy said, that when even Jesus was criticized then who is Darren Sammy??
moniker Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 ^ It's probably more to do with the attitude towards missing a game. I agree with you there. The attitude of the whole Indian team is under question. But I find it funny that some posters here think that Ashwin is comparing himself to Torres. That's not what he meant.

asterix Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 "Even R. Ashwin has to sit out for India" Fernando Torres :cantstop:
Magneto Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 I saw that interview and by the kind of attitude and body language Ashwin had, I think he regards himself to be God's gift to Indian cricket and the most important cricketer since the invention of cricket. :hehe:
Sean Bradley Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Hammeredabad!! Ohh my faakin lord!! What is this pitch??? What are these conditions?? Absolute nightmare for bowlers...with dew i will rate this stadium as one of the worst bowling conditions in international arena...even hafeez has been made to look like bradman :omg:
yoda Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 7 RPO on a day when 9.5 RPO is the avg for the game. Well done Ashwin and :finger: to the haters!

CG Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Ashwin Trolled everybody today.Great bowling Also torres has been struggling in recent years after move to chelsea.
Utalk Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Congratulations Ind, Well played. Great game and Ind came out deserving winners. Yuvraj was class and fielders held their nerve. It's a pity Hafeez was on the losing side after a great knock. Umar Akmal and Shezad the overrated sloggers cost us the game. Great series and right result. Well done Ind.
Tendulkar_Bhai Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Torres is not a great player anymore he has been below average for the last 2yrs since leaving Lpool which is why he gets left out. Ashwin is never going to be a great spin bowler, average at best.
