Jan 2013 is too far off sir. Moreover, like all other players in our team, he also expects that he would be drafted straight into the national team. He has nursed a very serious injury, which would require him to bowl a lot of overs firstly in the nets and then in the domestic season before being in the reckoning. And the problem is, no-one gives a thought to the recovery process. As much as I respect yuvraj's mental courage, the fact that he has been included in the probable for T20 shows what fools our committee members are. He has not held a cricket bat since almost an year and when he declares himself fit, he's drafted. It's not only about Sree or any player, it's way much more than that.
+1 I was surprised to see the hooplah on this.

Forget fast bowling resources' date=' I don't even see any spinners who can take wkts for us. I would happily trade a few of our upcoming bowlers for say someone like Narine.[/quote'] dont worry ashwin will do fine at home away would be problem even ojha will do pretty well last test vs australia ball started turning a bit not much and ashwin looked so dangerous we are really really missing kumble he can bowl away form home with discipline and always took out the tail

Good point but as I wrote yesterday in the VVS thread, this is the fault of the selectors. Sree will need some warm up matches for sure.

Funny people mentioning likes of Aaron who averages over 40 in domestic which only includes one international test. People need to get a grip. And if Dinda is to take over Zaheer' date=' very worrying. At most he is an able 3rd seamer.[/quote'] ^Agree with that.

Even at home we don't have a bowler like how Kumble was on Indian pitches. As far as away, we are actually in a worse position than 90s. At least then we had Srinath & Prasad but now with Zaheer out of the equation we have nobody to turn to and scores of 500+ would be norms against us which we already saw in Eng & Aus last year

Yadav right now is the only certainty who will take over from Zaheer, he has progressed very well in the past year or so Ishant is plagued with injuries right now but I can only hope he can put his injuries behind him and get back to his best. I still feel he's got a lot to offer but needs to stay away from injuries Aaron has the pace but he needs to become consistent when it comes to line and length, he's okay for ODI right now but not Test Sreesanth is a talented bowler but he needs to focus on cricket and cricket alone when he gets fit. Ahmed stock is rising fast but still has a long way ahead Dinda, V Kumar, P Kumar, Munaf are covers not a long term solution

Our most likely Test XI Gambhir, Sehwag, Pujara, Tendulkar, Laxman, Kohli, Dhoni, Ashwin, Zaheer, Yadav, Ojha we had a very bad year last year but this is not a weak team

Didn't we perform better than what current legends have done in last 2 tours?
This 0-8 has been the worst back-to-back away performances in our history. Even 99 team can't hold a candle to what we did in Eng & Aus last year.

Loss is a loss in my books. It's also important to note we didn't stick to that team after that series else a 6-0 or 8-0 was definitely possible. Also, Ganguly-Laxman-Dravid-Tendulkar were a part of the squad AFAIK. The 8-0 is definitely the worst I have seen but the 1999 team was far more worse.

Not really. They will still be far better with likes of Marchant DeLange, Philander, Kallis and any new pacer they might play. We have one of the worst bowling lineup at the moment where even playing 5 specialist bowlers is unlikely to get the opponents out for a reasonable total.
