Old guy Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 That's my point. We need to take care of our weak links. Drop one of the openers' date=' if not both, and get Rahane in, promote Kohli to no. 4 and get in a new batsman (Rohit or someone else) to replace Tendulkar. If 3 out of the top 4 batsmen are not doing anything no captain in the world can make much of a difference.[/quote'] i have been saying this even before htis series started but u all thought sehwag will magically score runs at home ..and every thing will be all right now rahane does not looks tht bad does he ?
Ultimate_Game Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 What next? MSD pays off bowlers to let him score 'cheap runs'? Seriously is that the best argument you can come up with? "ganeshran" topped the pakis there :haha: His rant against Dhoni was similar to how Pakis have a go at Sehwag claiming "he only scores if he gets 5 chances" after getting owned by Sehwag :hysterical: Now as per "ganeshran" Dhoni is a walking wkt and has averaged 38 coz bowlers dismissed him off no-balls early in his innings :cantstop: maybe next he will come up with tendulkar not scoring as he never gets no-balls when he's dismissed :giggle:

ganeshran Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 What next? MSD pays off bowlers to let him score 'cheap runs'? Seriously is that the best argument you can come up with? Did Dhoni not get a reprieve in the eden test twice due to the bowler bowling a no ball? And at both times he was slashing a wide delivery outside off stump. And that he failed in the remaining 3 innings without showing the least bit of fight. It was a criticism of his batting prowess even in the subcontinent, let alone abroad where he just is poor no questions asked. the point was that he needed a lucky reprieve twice to put in the only decent batting performance in three home tests against a lowly windies side. How many times would he get such lucky reprieves against good teams. When your number 8 bat is batting better than both the number 6 and 7, its time to fire the 6 and 7.
BeautifulGame Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 Actually the biggest criticism on Dhoni in this series should be his biases selection of rains not his on field captaincy. His captaincy had been pretty good I'm this series IMO and it's not a surprise either. He is always a great captain in helpful conditions for spinners tests or odis
Raghav_12 Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 I see my this post is being ignored continuously. Rating out of 10 (Australia tour performances). Kohli 6.5, Sachin 5, Dhoni - 0.5 and Wriddhiman Saha 4. http://www.espncricinfo.com/australia-v-india-2011/content/story/551482.html What happens next, Saha is dropped and Dhoni dictating terms.
Ultimate_Game Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 I dont understand this, Dhoni's average keeping is justified by his great batting which holds true in ODIS. In tests how can his average batting be justified by saying that he is a keeper, especially when his keeping itself is average, especially to seamers. With spinners he is alright, but abroad we are going to be bowling 3 seamers and if Dhoni doesnt go for difficult catches, how exactly can he stay in the team especially when he is an average batsmen. i dont mind an average batsman + a good keeper. But as a skipper and a number7 bat, he should show responsibility and the will to fight it out even in adverse conditons. He cant raise his hand and say oh the senior batsmen failed so I am not going to perform well. In the 8-0 debacle he never once did show the will to fight it out. Ashwin did, Kohli did, Gambhir did, seniors also did occasionally, but never did Dhoni grind it out in the middle. even PJ batted better than him in England. Prior has elevated his batting and keeping to another level altogether and at one point I rated him below Dhoni. Like I said, not being able to win a home series against New Zealand must be the lowest point in our cricketing history. Its so disgraceful that Dhoni should be the first to take moral irresponsibility. Other changes like SRT retiring should also happen, but the leader should take the responsibility before all of them. If we hand over the captaincy to Kohli today, its not like he can do any worse than 8-0 abroad and drawing against Kiwis at home. Care to explain why he should take "moral responsibility" when he i actually one of our top performers in the series? Coz the selectors saddled him with a 40 year old has been? This is what your logic is and let's see if you can spot the error... A PM is brough to manage the project. But the team who's given to the PM is chosen by his boss and even though members of his team are non-performers they are still retained. PM has no power to kick out non-performers. PM does all he could but eventually the project fails coz the expert/team member failed to do anything on the project - a problem which was already identified. At the end of the project PM was fired coz he was held "morally" responsible for the debacle and the under-performing team member was retained to work on another project as he was "enjoying" working on projects.

So Dhoni's actual runs don't matter but he should be dropped coz he was out off a no-ball even though he did score runs :hysterical:

Lords 2007, Faisalabad 2006, Ahmedabad test 2009 against SL. only wk batsmen better than him are prior, andy flower, gilchrist.

deathmonger Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 ppl talking about ashwin outscoring 6-7, remember it is due to ashwin's brilliance not that ashwin sucks and 6-7 are suckier than him. ashwin avgs 40.
asterix Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 Nobody answering my kochan.. Why iTendu quit captaincy? :hitler:

Seriously how do u know Dhoni didnt slash at that wide delivery after he heard the no ball call from umpire :face palm:

Raghav_12 Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 Care to elaborate how would you rate the performances this series and how Dhoni should be held "morally" responsible if India lose the Test to kiwis? After that shambolic performance in Aus, Dhoni shouldn't have been anywhere close to Test team, Every thing after that is Void. I am not gonna rate or berate somebody based on the performance against NZ.
Ultimate_Game Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 Seriously how do u know Dhoni didnt slash at that wide delivery after he heard the no ball call from umpire :face palm: Doesn't matter. Dhoni should own "moral responsibility" for that slash and drop himself immediately :haha:

Lords 2007, Faisalabad 2006, Ahmedabad test 2009 against SL. only wk batsmen better than him are prior, andy flower, gilchrist. Must have been a few no balls on which he got out. Noway MSD can score when bowlers don't bowl no-balls.

And you used that one innings/series to judge his batting in home tests? Quite a lame argument and you made it look like as if MSD had asked Roach to bowl those no balls for him. As for the bolded part, that number 8 is also batting better than 1, 2 and 4. Why not ask them to be fired as well, along with 6 and 7? Or is the focus solely on number 7?
