Will Rohit keep his test spot vs Kiwis?

He warmed the benches during the Australian tour. Now that Dravid has retired, a fit Pujara will surely regain his test spot. The key question is given his very ordinary ODI performances in the last two series and a not so satisfactory A tour of WI, will Rohit lose his test spot to Rahane (or who knows even Raina)? Should he be thrown out of the test squad for not doing well in an altogether different format? If he does lose his test spot, will it be justified without giving him any chance in tests?

ah sorry abt that too may threads going around :D well if rahane gets in he will be for diff position ..like top 4 rohit for 6 so no i dont think so

Not to Raina, but Ideally all of Pujara, Rahane and Rohit will be there- regardless of Rohits ODI form- and VVSL will be dropped

He was never in the test squad and is not likely to be at least in the NZ series. Pujara will come in Dravid's place and I dont see the selectors dropping VVS. Rohit needs to spend some time outside the Indian dressing room anyway.

Yes, he was.

He was picked for test not based on his ODI form but because of his FC stats and it would be ridiculous to drop him based on ODI form. He should be in the squad but like CT said Pujara deserves the first go.

if robbie is not picked for odi based on his t20 form same should be applied to rohit based on his odi form should not be picked for tests.:winky:

bowler found his weakness finally...He can't play straight balls if they bowl him consecutive straight balls..so no use in tests also...He can't play straight drive then how he can be termed as talent or compared to sachin?

But got injured in the morning of the match. That would hardly qualify him as being part of the test team.
Am talking of his place in the 14/15 squad for tests. He toured Aus as part of the test squad and was close to his test debut in the 3rd/4th test.

I think Rohit needs to be out of the team for a while. His confidence level is too low now and if you continue to play him, its not going to help him at all. Hope he takes help from the right people (ex-players or coaches) and sorts out his issues and then comes back into the team. The positive thing for his is that other than Pujara, there is hardly any real talent out there for the selectors to select.

OK, I get your point. But there is no point in putting him now in the test squad if he is not in the Playing XI. Better to give him a break and work on his issues.
