Donny
Mark Waugh is not the kind of player who stands up tall and hammers a good length ball over mid-wicket for a one bounce four Chandan. No, he would stand up tall and caress it through the off - along the ground. Almost anyone can hoik the ball over midwicket. Read the post about my sixes. Link to comment
Anakin
Michael Vaughan played similar shots in this series. I'd say the best shot of the series was Tendulkar's back-foot punch straight down the ground for 4. This was during his first innings at the Oval. Only Tendulkar could have played that shot. True, amazing shot. Laxman is the only one who can better tendulkar in those touch shots. Link to comment

MundaPakistani
Considering his ability against both fast and spin bowling i reckon he is averaging a good 10 runs below his POTENTIAL. Link to comment

simba28
Talking of timing.. I think damien martyn was one of the sweetest timers of the ball.. Mark waugh was awesome 2.. love to see them bat.. except against India:D Link to comment
jukkha
VVS Laxman, is going to be playing his first match for my local county team (Lancashire) as of tomorrow. I think it is a great move from him to still play in England while India are here too. Obviously tomorrow my focus is on India's game but i will be following VVS progress too and hopefully goto watch a couple of lancashire matches in the coming weeks. jukkha Link to comment
Brainfade
Timing is one thing. The placement was simply superb on that shot. I still have nightmares of Dravid playing well-timed shots straight to the fielders. Link to comment
coffee_rules
I prefer to watch Tendulkar bat more than VVSL. In batting aesthetics I rank: Tendulkar Mark Waugh VVSL Yuvraj Ganguly (yes, his off-side strokes are) Azharuddin ..... daylight and worse to watch ... Ponting Dravid and lastly Afridi/Dhoni Link to comment
Ram
You do have weird taste , putting Dravid and Ponting along with Afridi and Dhoni.. Dravid is as aesthetic as aesthetic can get. Link to comment
coffee_rules
Ponting/Dravid are very ugly to watch. It's a personal opinion. Dravid's wait for bad ball to score attitude is helpful for the team, but he can't push the gas-pedals when he wants. He is a blocker and their cricket is ugly to watch. Link to comment

In fact, his down-on-one-knee cover drive is probably the most aesthetic shot played in world cricket today. Link to comment

I would rate it slightly behind the back foot cover drive and the front foot straight drive that SRT plays. Link to comment
coffee_rules
For me everything SRT does is good. He is so balanced in his defense. Only time he is ugly is when he has no idea about the bounce and gets foxed and he tries to indicate that the ball took him by surprise by bending full down....pathetic. Link to comment
