I am not passing a judgement. I am simply stating what I've seen so far. If tomorrow Umesh or Aaron bowl in 140s & 150s and take wkts consistently I would be the first to acknowledge the same and press for their selection in every format.

If Pakistan had not given up on 31 year old Sami, who can people given up on 23-24 year old bowlers and thing to remember is we never had any system or tradition of fast bowlers which plays a bigger role on development of fast bowlers and that is why you will not have ready made fast bowlers in India as yet.

Apart from DD's eliminator, he was quite good all through his 6-7 matches in IPL. In his first 5 matches, he had an economy rate of 6 odd and he was taking wickets too and T20 is the kind of game best bowlers can have bad days like Styen, Malinga too had their bad days. You wouldn't have said that if you had watched all the matches he had played. Yes. He was bad in the match against Chennai, but other than that he was one of the better Indian fast bowler on show. Look at this. I haven't either and if you read my posts on the team for WC 2015 I have all 3 in the team including Ishant.

If you are expecting a 31 year old fast bowler to suddenly change then you have unrealistic expectations. As for Aaron, Umesh and Ishant I haven't given up on them. I am simply saying the hype around them is not justified especially Aaron who has been mostly injured and whenever I saw him bowl he barely touched 140s and was mostly in low to mid 130s. For Umesh I don't want him to play odis in the near future is coz continuous hammering doesn't help him or the team. Just imaine what harm such continuous hammering will do to his confidence. Best thing for him to do is to go back to domestic cricket and work on his game there and come back to the national team when he's more ready. We need him for the 2015 WC and that should be our focus. No point playing him in ever odi/T20 and watch him get hammered. Ishant is the best of the 3 and closest to the world class standard. if he works on just a few things he can easily turn around his career. He simply needs to start pitching it up a bit more coz with short of length he will continue to beat the bat but not get wkts. This change would be similar to what Ambrose made in 91-92 (or was it 93?) series in Aus when he kept beating the bat in the first 3 Tests but failed to get wkts. Then he changed his length and bowled a yard or two fuller in the last 2 tests and got a bucket load of wkts helping WI win the last 2 tests and the series. ishant should do the same. As for odis he needs to work on his yorker and maybe a slower ball as he has no variety to speak of but like Umesh, and hopefully Aaron, we will need him in Aus for 2015 WC.

He is getting injured not because of poor fitness but because he bowls fast which puts stress and load on back. He will be alright because he is still young. I dont think you have even seen him. Saw most of DD matches,Umesh was their best bowler and Aaron I expect a lot better from him than he did,coz I think he is a much better limited overs bowler than Umesh.I was particularly disappointed with his performance in Dharamshala.

He could have done a bit better there but was not bad too, even Irfan did not have much better stats because pitch had got better after a few overs. He did bowl good yorkers in end overs. The problem with him is that he yet lacks the new ball to swing in their which he will learn like Yadav did. First thing for him is to concentrate on his back injuries. If he is fit, he can make an Indian ODI side any day because he is one of the more accurate bowlers we have and still can bowl fairly quick and reverse the ball as well.

Doesn't matter the reason for his injuries be it related to his fitness or something else. The fact remains if someone is injury prone and is always a injury waiting to happen you can't do much about it. It's unfortunate but you will have to eventually move on :dontknow: I saw him in the Test against WI and Ishant comfortably outbowled him. Aaron was mostly in 130s and I don't recall seeing him hit 140s even once and the wkts he got were when the WI team had already scored plenty. Those were Kaneria sort of wkts where kaneria used to get 5/160 :giggle: I didn't watch the Eng odi series after that 0-4 fiasco and I would wait for him to prove himself against a better odi team than England in SC.
