Spiderguy252 Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Simon Katich, I'm a huge fan. Alas, the Aussies don't want to play him.
Trichromatic Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Dont know why Cook is so over-hyped. most of his knocks were at home' date=' nothing special[/quote'] Home and Ashes. He is over-hyped because he scored heaps of runs in Ashes. But even in the current form, Sanga, Smith and Chanders are better than him.

If you do well against Australia but fail against everyone else, you are forgiven as an England cricketer. Case in point in our current set-up: Big Dunc.

Spiderguy252 Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Cook is easily best FTB in the England team. Minnow basher is another term I'd use. The only attacks he's scored heavily against are that weak Aussie Ashes line-up, and our dear Munaf Patels and RP Singhs. But watch him now against South Africa. Or in 2010 against Pakistan. Or the earlier great Aussie attack. The guy looks clueless.
CricLind Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Tests: Sangakkara ODIs: Hussey T20: Gayle Overall: none. Each has their own strengths and weaknesses and there is no one who stands far ahead of the bath, a la Bradman.

Maybe Strauss should be replaced by someone else but Cook is a pretty good player to have. And to boot he's more than handy in odis as well.

Sean Bradley Posted August 19, 2012 Author Posted August 19, 2012 I was a huge huge fan of Marcus Trescothick....there was a certain charm & elegance to batting stance, his cover drives...:hatsoff:

Ultimate_Game Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Yep' date=' he is more than decent and must in the team but no where near the best in the business[/quote'] Yeah he's not the best but still decent enough. At least he cashes in when he's in good form and has improved his odi game by leaps and bound.
Manny_Pacquiao Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 both cook and strauss are the most overrated batsmen going around. i can't believe strauss is still in the team, the guy is almost like a non-playing captain.
Pagalpanti Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 ODI/T20: Gayle Test: Cook (well I'd have had Smith but I feel Cook is more assured vs Spinners. So yeah)
