:hmmm: You don't consider him best in ODIs, but somehow he is best overall. How? Gambhir scored his last century against Bangladesh in Jan 2010. Averages 29 in last 20 test matches since then. His test batting has been absolute joke. Lol, he is nowhere near Greame Smith.

Tests - Sanga. Cook was doing well, but he has struggled after series against India. Sanga has scored runs in SL, UAE, England and SA. He is easily the best left-handed batsman in test matches. Chanderpaul is among top lefties, but he won't play for long. Sanga, Chanderpaul, Smith, Cook, Hussey and then Gambhir. ODIs - Gambhir. Although his test performance has been quite awful, he has managed to do well consistently in ODIs. Sanga has loads of runs, but he often fails to accelerate and doesn't put in very good conditions. Gambhir, Hussey, Sanga, Cook, Smith. Overall - Sanga followed by Hussey, Cook and Smith. Sanga, Hussey, Smith, Gambhir, Cook.

Greame Smith and Cook are better if not way ahead of him overall. No team would choose Gambhir over Smith or Cook in test matches.
