Indians during that time use to refer to him as "Zaheer Aub-bus" ( "Zaheer now stop").
It was by the topical Amul Butter ads in the 1977-78 series. In that series he took the famous spin quartet to the cleaners. In their defense, they were all nearing their age of retirement. Similar to what Sehwag did to Saqlain Mustaq in 2004.

Yeah...........but Lloyd averaged 58 from 28 tests...............Shiv 72 from 18 tests. BTW, I think that most of us would agree that the Indian attack is more potent now with the 3 seamers and 1/2 spinners back-up............than in the days when Wadekar used to rub the new ball in the dust and give it to Bedi to open, with 3 other spinners in the background.

Average against India is nothing to gloat about, Every tom dick and harry have scored against India. India bowling has always been weaker compared to it's batting. Compare your batsmens' performance against Australia or Pakistan who have better bowling team.

This dude always gave me nightmares; 018969.jpg 9 matches played, 1138 runs, a highest score of 232*, 3 hundreds and 7 fifties and an average of 94.83. Just short of 10 matches, but close enough

Arrite.............close but not close enough. Shiv's 72 still stands.:regular_smile::regular_smile:
A mind-numbingly boring batsmen though. I'd rather watch the grass grow, to be honest

How can this discussion be complete without one Mr.Jimmy Adams :D Want to know his record against India ? 3 matches , 520 runs, Ave - 173.33 , 2 50's and 2 100's ! In that series against India , he was like the rock of Gibraltar.
