Don't see how that is possible. No way either of Kohli or Sehwag would want to bat at 6. They both would want at least No.5. So being realistic it won't happen until SRT retires (most likely end of this season).

I was responding to the claim that Tendulkar will retire after the next domestic season. Instead of sending a green player overseas I would rather give him one season before the team tours so either SRT should retire end of this season or continue to play on till the next overseas tours. But the way SRT performed overseas against Eng & Aus last year and considering the fact he will be 42-43 years old when we tour away, I would rather go with a youngster.

Nothing of the sort. Game will go on and we will unearth future stars. IMO it's tough for a team to be more shambolic than going 0-8 and I am willing to bet that even if we have the team full of youngsters we will not plumb such depths.

Now VVS has retired I can bet that Sehwag will bat at no.5 or 6 sooner oe later. It's very important to give exposure to an orthodox & technically correct opener in Rahane for future away tours.

It would be interesting to look at this again in light of his omission. Have seen it mentioned a few times since then but certainly it would not be an 'easy' move as perhaps assumed. This is obviously based on the premise that people think he will make a comeback, opener or not.

When Yuvraj was omitted in 2010, he worked hard to get back into the team and was a hero at the World Cup. If Sehwag honestly wants to have a renaissance, then he will do the same.
