Unmukt Chand - 8. Didn't do much in league and knockouts other than scoring a couple of 30s, but came into his own on the biggest stage as usual. After scoring 100s in finals of quadrangular tourney in Aus against Aus and in Asia Cup final against Pakis, Chand followed it up with a spectacular captain's knock in the final of the u-19 WC single handedly ensuring India wins the cup. His clutchness is continuing the trend of young Indian batsmen being clutch in a pressure situation like Dhoni, Kohli, Yuvi, Gambhir etc. Would have given Chand 6 out of 10 but that knock lifts him to 8. Plus he captained reasonably well and used his bowlers wisely. Prashant Chopra - 7.5. Scored 3 50s in the tourney on pitches which were extremely tough to bat on, especially against the new ball. He was patient and seems to have a decent technique but needs to work on rotating th strike and being a bit more positive after getting in. Baba Aparajith - 8.5. Another success story and one of the few Indian batsmen who seemed at ease in Aus conditions. His off-breaks was more than handy and an amaing fielder to boot, especially in the slips. Would have rated him 9 but docked half a point as he throws his wkt away after getting in. He got starts every game but never went on to make a huge score. That's something he needs to work on but he has plenty of pluses in his favor. Hanuman Vihari - 2. Was a non-factor throughout the tourney. Couldn't bat against pacers and looked clueless against spinners as well. I have still no idea why he was never dropped from the playing XI. Vijay Zol - 5. Heard a lot about him but was disappointed as he doesn't seem tough mentally. When India was under the pump against Kiwis and Aussies in S/F 7 final he got out. needs to work on his temperament as he has the game for the big league and is suited more to longer format than the shorter format. He can bat out time but the moment reqd RR needs to be upped he looks ill at ease. His sole decent contribution came against pakis in Q/F where he scored an attractive 30 but that's about it from him in the tourney. Akshdeep Nath - 1. Even worse than Vihari if that's possible. Couldn't bat at all and dropped a sitter in the final. He was vice captain to boot and maybe that saved him from being dropped from the playing XI. Smit Patel - 7. Was a decent wk and performed well with the bat against WI and in the final. His promotion over nath in the WC final says it all about him and how he's perceived within the team. If I have to have a Patel in the Indian team, I would rather have Smit than Parthiv. Harmeet Singh - 9. Absolute stud and someone who is closest to make it into the national team. He has all the attributes of a good spinner - control, flight, turn, arm ball etc. Plus he has temperament to boot. His innings against Pakistan with the bat showed how tough he's mentally. Kamal Passi - 7.5. id well with the new ball most of the tourney and supported Sanddep Sharma well. Other than the final, where he had an off day, he took wkts and kept it tight. With the bat he's a good fashioned slogger with 6 or nothing approach. Ravikant Singh - 8.5. Was a revelation after coming in for injured Syed in the team. He impressed with his pace - quickest of the Indian pacers - and consistently took wkts in the middle overs never relinquishing pressure on the batsmen. He bowled well at the death as wel and has a decent yorker. Has potntial to make it to India team in the future. He needs to work on curbing no-balls as he gives way too many no-balls which is criminal in the days of free hits. Sandeep Sharma - 10. MVP of the Indian team this u-19 WC. He was to this team what Zak was to Indian team in the 2011 WC and in fact better. He consistently took wkts with the new ball and gave nothing away. Again, seems to be an India prospect in the making but will be helpful if he can add to his pace. One area he can work on his bowling with the new ball as he' like PK. he makes the new ball talk but once the new ball is old he'n not that effective. Rush kalaria - 3. Played just one game against WI and wasn't that impressive with the ball. He could have been given another game in place of Nath or Vihari in the knockouts as his bowling could have been useful and his batting couldn't possibly have been any worse than Vihari & Nath.

If we see parallels with the senior team in 2011 world cup then Chopra- SRT Chand - MSD Sandeep - Zaheer Harmeet+ Aparajith - Yuvi Zol - kohli Nehra Munaf - Passi and Ravikant :haha: Nath and Vihari were Chawla and Sreesanth of the team. Agree with most of the ratings. Our pacers may not look great future prospects but in the context of the tournament, where all 3 averaged 14-15 with the ball(probably the best in the tourney) I must say they were the biggest factor. Had we played both Ravikant and Passi against WI we may have remained unbeaten.

If we see parallels with the senior team in 2011 world cup then Chopra- SRT Chand - MSD Sandeep - Zaheer Harmeet+ Aparajith - Yuvi Zol - kohliNehra Munaf - Passi and Ravikant :haha: Nath and Vihari were Chawla and Sreesanth of the team. Kohli was light years ahead of Zol. Did you see the way Kohli consolidated in the final along with Gambhir? Zol had the same opporunity with India struggling at 90/3 and he went for a duck :facepalm: Agree with most of the ratings. the deliveries he got wickets on... even international test class batsmen would fall on them.. and he got all wickets with older ball tht is the most impressive thing

Chand/Aparajith/Sandeep. One of these three will surely make it into the Indian team for the next ODI series which is against England at home in Jan 2013.

Aparajith looks great and then suddenly throws it away in 30s :facepalm: If he could finish the job as well or get big scores after he's set he has a great future ahead of him.
