Lord Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 Raina can take the game away from opposition in half hour. I still believe Raina should be persisted with. so can Zaheer if he connects with his slogs
Ultimate_Game Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 I would prefer Rohit at 6. And would also drop one of the openers and bring in Rahane.
bablankalhan Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 Harbhajan/Ashwin and Ojha if played together .......definitely 4-0 for INDIA :yay:
bablankalhan Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 Rahane should replace Raina asap.....Kohli can drop to No 6
Ultimate_Game Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 Rahane should replace Raina asap.....Kohli can drop to No 6 Who drops their best batsman to 6 If anything Kohli should bat at 4, Rohit brought in to bat at 6 and Rahane to replace Gambhir.
bablankalhan Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 Laxman use to bat at 6....Kohli is still not best batsman in tests...if he was the one...he could have atleast won us test at MCG .... AB bats at number 6 for South Africa in tests !

AB bats at number 6 for South Africa in tests ! Laxman wasn't our best batsman either. Tendulkar, Dravid and Sehwag were better for the most part. Currently Kohli is our best batsman and things have changed quite a lot since the MCG Test. If you are picking batsmen for the Indian team, Kohli would be the first name on the team sheet.

Sadly, in the current batting lineup he has already gone long enough to be termed our best batsman :haha: Take a look at our batting order and tell me who's currently better than Kohli and you would prefer over Kohli - Gambhir, Sehwag, Pujara, Tendulkar, Raina. I don't see anyone ahead of Kohli in that lineup :dontknow:

Hell Raiser Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 Rohit Sharma should replace Raina in the upcoming test series he should have been selected ahead of Raina for this series as well.
Ultimate_Game Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 SRT .... just out of form....has not played any cricket after IPL...will comeback strongly against England ! He's not out of form, he's just old Rohit Sharma should replace Raina in the upcoming test series he should have been selected ahead of Raina for this series as well. Rohit is quite unlucky. He was supposed to get a Test against SA but got injured on the morning of the match and we saw Saha score a duck :haha: Then he was in amazing form last year in odis but was sat on the bench for months whereas likes of Laxman kept on failing game after game. Should have gotten the last 2 Tests in Aus after the series was already over within the 1st 2 Tests. Then he should have been in the Test team after Dravid & Laxman retirement but had a poor odi series in SL. If he could have had one of those odi series he had last year where he was MOS he would have walked into the Test side without any doubt. That said Rohit needs to be given a go in Tests soon.

Totally agree with you. He can be a very good batsman at test level. He averages 60 at domestic level which shows that he has performed in domestic cricket and deserves a place in the side. Okay he he hasn't scored in ODI's but Selectors should not confused the format of the game, IMO Rohit will prove to be a better test batsman than an ODI batsman.
PaceAttack Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 so can Zaheer if he connects with his slogs Would you say the same to Gilchrist?
PaceAttack Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 Unfortunately he can also take half an hour to score a duck as well. I'm a huge fan of Raina the ODI player but until he goes back to the Ranji Trophy, scores big and forces his way back into the selectors thoughts, he is not an option in tests. Raina does not take much time to attack the opposition. I think Dhoni will continue to back him and Raina will get his chances in the future.
Lord Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 Would you say the same to Gilchrist? no because his chances of lasting for half an hour r far greater than Raina n Zak
Sooda Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 Rahane should have played and opened with GG... shame that was not tried out. 5 bowlers is not the way forward, Ashwin is good for a lower order 30 odd not any more. MSD even at home is not good enough a bat to bat at 6 I would say... England bowl well and it is not a gamble worth taking
PaceAttack Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 no because his chances of lasting for half an hour r far greater than Raina n Zak I disagree. Raina can be as good as Gilchrist if he is allowed to play his natural game.
Lord Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 I disagree. Raina can be as good as Gilchrist if he is allowed to play his natural game. really?remind me of any wild slogs in tense situations like what Raina did yesterday.n dont get me started on his short ball problem n weakness against decent off spin n Gilly was a WK so he could do that, not Raina
jairamesh Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 What exactly has bhajji done to merit a recall?
