SLICKR392 Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 I have been trying to remove the write protection from my micro SD...but it just wouldn't format or let me copy files. I don't have a slider to lock/unlock on the card. Am using a card reader to connect it to my PC -the reader doesn't have a slider either. I have tried changing the Hexadecimal value to '0' in the StorageDevicePolicies on RegEdit. It doesn't have the format option in the Disc Management either. A solution would be a big help. If anyone had come across this issue, then please do suggest a solution :pray:. BS thing is getting on my nerves.

I can suggest the following - [1] Use DBAN http://www.dban.org/ [2] Are you using an adapter to connect the Micro SD card? If yes, it may be an adapter issue [3] Try a low level format by this HDDGuru utility http://hddguru.com/software/HDD-LLF-Low-Level-Format-Tool/

No luck. helps to isolate the problem. Did you check if ReadyBoost was disabled. I guess you already tried the Regedit setting for StorageDevicePolicy

Try this .. zmccammon says: Ok all you have to do is get clear tape and put it over the switch be sure the switch is up instead of down see basically what happens is when you insert the sd card in there it locks itself so to prevent that you have to unlock it and make it stay unlocked even when you put it in your computer. Be sure not to cover the gold contacts as you may result in damaging the SD Adapter.

NTFS supports encryption as well. btw have you formatted the disk in FAT16, AFAIK, FAT32 supports upto 4GB filesize
