Your suggestion that Ryan brought some intellectual depth (as opposed to his fiscal voting record) and the whining that followed about how members here don't take him seriously is indeed your far right ideology, not my cynicism.

Just shift the goalpost, in 2000 family values and God is important hence **** the economy, 2001-2008 homeland security is important hence **** the deficit, in 2008-2012 economy/deficit is important hence **** the healthcare, etc.

I am an avowed atheist, I have posted vehemently against the Iraq war, actually showed up to the booth and voted against the banning of gay marriage in my state, furiously supported Ron Paul, sent money to Jon Huntsman, and am seriously considering anyone who will decrease the size of government now that these guys (JH and RP) are not viable candidates. Paul Ryan's selection was the point that sparked serious conversations about reducing the size of government on this board. I still contend that he is intelligent and articulate - infinitely more so than the vaanar we have for a VP right now. I disagree with Ryan's stance on war spending. But, I have also posted videos of him taking the President to economics school re. Medicare. Is he always honest? Of course not. Is Obama? Is Biden? Does Ryan have ideas? Yes. Are they perfect? Not even close. Are they serious? Absolutely. Have I bothered to read his 200-page pdf? Yes. And while I have the gumption to critique him and criticize your guys, you guys can't resist throwing barbs in one direction while ignoring the short-comings on your side and fawning over the messiah! Like I said again - I am seriously considering Obama. I cannot vote for Ron Paul - am not sure he is on my state's ballot and he has no chance of willing anyway. Do you have any serious comments to counter the counter to the Forbes article? I am up for a serious discussion. And please don't link George Carlin to make your point.

As someone who is a conservative and believes in less govt. and greater freedom for private sector, I feel shocked that this abomination of party is representing the same ideology. Although, to be honest, they are all but two management teams. I think we know who runs things behind the facade.
