Brainfade Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 And please don't tell me this is a civil rights issue. http://news.yahoo.com/judge-grants-sex-change-mass-murder-convict-184734111.html?_esi=1 BOSTON (AP) State prison officials must provide taxpayer-funded sex-reassignment surgery to a transgender inmate serving life in prison for murder, because it is the only way to treat her "serious medical need," a federal judge ruled Tuesday. Michelle Kosilek was born male but has received hormone treatments and now lives as a woman in an all-male prison. Robert Kosilek was convicted of murder in the killing of his wife in 1990. U.S. District Judge Mark Wolf is believed to be the first federal judge to order prison officials to provide sex-reassignment surgery for a transgender inmate. A serious medical need? What's next? A mandate that employers must offer insurance plans that cover this? If this is "progressive," I'd rather not progress.

You are just labelling . What is conservatism. Going by your theory you should not go to doctor at all as it is somehow "progressive" to you. You should not use laptop, ipad, iphone.. as it is progressive. You should boycott all technological advancements as it is progressive. If being stuck in a time warp is what conservatism, then i bloody don't need it. Don't want to be called a certified idiot who is afraid of any kind of progress and change. It is some kind of phobia. If i strictly interpret you conservatism is some kind of disease where you are terrified of change.

That is, I can still be progressive in other areas, but reject *this* particular brand of social progressivism. And you cannot deny that this is the kind of society that extreme progressivism/liberalism has created. It has perverted the notions of inclusiveness and equality. The very notion that (a) government decides that sex-confusion is a disease, and (b) treatment using taxpayer money is a right is a perversion of social progressivism.
