Pietersen not awarded central contract

Kevin Pietersen has not been included among the list of England's centrally contracted players for 2012-13 released by the ECB. Although central contracts can be awarded at any time, the news suggests that, for now, Pietersen's return to international cricket remains unlikely. Pietersen has not played for England since the second Test against South Africa at Headingley, after a text messaging controversy that the two parties are still trying to work through. Whilst naming the ten players to be awarded full contracts, the ECB confirmed that private negotiations with Pietersen remain ongoing. Its not a big story, the ecb have already said they want to finish the ongoing talks before they decide what to do, i.e offer him a contract or not.
